Sprint doubles AT&T's doubling offer

AT&T announced a new promotion over the weekend which will double its existing 15GB, 20GB, 30GB, and 50GB plans to 30GB, 40GB, 60GB, and 100GB respectively through the month of October. The promotion is valid for plans that have two or more lines active, and is available to new and existing customers (although existing customers have to contact AT&T before October 31 to access the large data pool).

Sprint doesn’t want to be left out of the doubling game, so it is countering with its own beefed up “Double the Data” promotion that runs through October. With Sprint’s new offer, it is matching the promotional pricing of AT&T’s “new” 30GB, 40GB, and 60GB plans while at the same time doubling the amount of available data per month. That means that paying $130, $150, and $225 per month will get you 60GB, 80GB, and 120GB of data respectively.

All plans included unlimited talk/text.

In addition to doubling AT&T’s data offer at the same price points, Sprint is also waiving the monthly access charges for customers that port their wireless number from a rival carrier through 2015. Like AT&T’s promotion, existing Sprint customers using the Family Share Pack will have to call in to activate the “Double the Data” promotion.

You can also keep the increased data allotments — even after the promotion ends — as long as you don’t change your plan or cancel your service.

"Paying an extra $500 for a computer in this environment -- same piece of hardware -- paying $500 more to get a logo on it? I think that's a more challenging proposition for the average person than it used to be." -- Steve Ballmer
