Sony Exec agrees with Microsoft Exec regarding Nintendo's Wii
In strange turn of events after E3 ended this week, Sony Computer Entertainment executive Phil Harrison agrees with Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President Peter Moore regarding Nintendo’s Wii. A few days ago Peter Moore was quoted saying
that consumers could purchase a Microsoft XBOX 360 and a Nintendo Wii
for the same price as a single PlayStation 3. According to GamePro,
Harrison said console buyers should buy a Nintendo Wii in addition to a next generation system, whether it is the XBOX 360 or PlayStation 3.
According to The Wire:
"I think Peter Moore is exactly right," Harrison said. "I think
Nintendo will be the second system consumers purchase after PlayStation
3. I haven't had a chance to check out the Wii myself, but Nintendo has
a great history of innovation and has always done great things for
gaming and long may they do so."
If this is the case, several game publications anticipate the console
war will only be between Sony and Microsoft in the high end while
Nintendo sits back as the third wheel capturing the mainstream market
with the cheaper Wii. Despite this, Nintendo could still very well end
up with the number one selling console in its generation in the long
run. The high cost of Sony's game console could leave it out of the
hands of the average console gamer. Despite the high $500-600 price
tag, Harrison is still defending the PlayStation 3’s value with the
built in Blu-ray player. How Sony is going to market the feature is yet
to be seen as Blu-ray has constantly been delayed.
"Google fired a shot heard 'round the world, and now a second American company has answered the call to defend the rights of the Chinese people." -- Rep. Christopher H. Smith (R-N.J.)
