New dark side lightsaber dazzles

Star Wars Ep. VII is set to launch next December 2015.  The Walt Disney Comp. (DIS) is to thank -- or blame -- for giving us what many fans so long dreamed for: a true sequel to the original trilogy.  The film, directed by J.J. Abrams and starring the classic cast, only recently unveiled its episode name -- "The Force Awakens".

Leakers have used drones to gather hints about the spaceships in the film (in addition to the official release of the look of the new X-Wing via J.J. Abrams), but J.J. Abrams and company have kept a tight grip on the plot, which is set a few decades after the destruction of the second Death Star over Endor.

But at long last we have some official eye candy to lay our peepers on -- an HD trailer.

It's hard to watch the trailer and not get a bit of a chill of excitement and anticipation.  And how about that new dark side lightsaber with its short paired, hilt beams (or exhaust)?  And it's hard not to get excited when you see X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and the Millennium Falcon.

I don't want to jinx us, but you really get the feel of the original film -- graphically at least -- when watching the trailer (much more so than you did with Lucas's "new" prequel trilogy, at least).  Let's hope this turns out to be as promising as it's looking.
