Lavish water wonderland sits atop three skyscrapers and is estimated to be the largest in the world.

Architect Moshe Safdie had high hopes when he built the Sands Skypark in Singapore.  The Sands Skypark runs across three structures of  the Marina Bay Sands hotel.  The new add-on to the $6 billion dollar high-rise complex includes a pool that sits atop the hotel and is 55 stories above ground.

The Infinity pool has attracted a lot of attention; it is nearly 500 feet in length and appears to be an edgeless pool.  If a visitor to the pool happens to swim over, they would fall into a basin that acts as a filter pumping water right back into the giant waterway.

Sands Skypark is itself nearly 1,250 feet long and runs along a rooftop deck that in addition to the pool features shops, theaters, casinos, a museum and indoor canals equipped with an observation deck and a botanical garden.

While the casino is free to visitors, area residents have to pay a $70 entrance fee because their government says it is trying to discourage gambling among citizens.

Not only is this man-made body of water estimated to be the world's largest pool, but the hotel, which has over 3,000 rooms, is said to be the most expensive luxury hotel on Earth.

space hotel backed by Barcelona-based architects and Virgin brand mogul Richard Branson, is expected to be in the works by 2012.

Not that I can afford such a vacation, but I still want one.
I bet swimming off the edge provides for some basic adrenaline flow.

I don't know about you but I'd check for pee in that pool.

If you don't like swimming in pee, don't swim in public swimming pools.

Yeah, especially if someone get a rush from looking over the edge and tries to jump over to see what happens. There's plenty of Darwin potentials out there.

"is said to be the most expensive luxury hotel on Earth"

I presume that was to build becuase it isn't exactly expensive to stay there according to their web site.

Clever way to attract gamblers from its neighbor country to "wash" the money :))

Anyway corrections to the information posted in this article.

The entrance fee for Singaporeans is $100 not $70 as published.

The Burj Khalifa has a pool on the 76th floor. But it doesn't seem as big or cool as this outdoor one.

The pool was built and installed by Natare Corp out of Indianapolis-- its supposedly the largest infinity pool in the world at that height.

Anyone find this to be more daunting than reassuring?
