The XPC X-series gains business and media center catered models

Shuttle today announced its latest mini PC the XPC X200. DailyTech previously unveiled details of the unit a couple months ago and the XPC X200 was announced last week for European markets. Nevertheless, the XPC X200 will arrive in two flavors -- the X200MA and the X200BA.

Both XPC X200 models are available with a variety of processors including Intel’s Core 2 Duo, Core Duo and Celeron M coupled with Intel’s 945GM north bridge. Intel’s integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 delivers graphics power to the XPC X200s. Other notable features of the XPC X200 include standard 3.5” hard disk, eight-channel high definition audio with S/PDIF output, Gigabit Ethernet, optional WiFi and a Windows XP Media Center Edition compatible remote with integrated IR receiver.

While the XPC X200MA and X200BA share the same underlying chassis and hardware there are a few slight differences between the two. The XPC X200MA can be equipped with an optional TV tuner that can is capable of tuning analog NTSC and digital ATSC broadcasts. The optional TV tuner can also tune into unencrypted QAM channels as well. An optional DVI to HDMI cable is also available for the XPC X200MA.

The XPC X200BA with its business target audience has dual display capabilities. An external dongle is included with XPC X200BA systems to convert the single DVI output into one DVI and one VGA.

Expect the XPC X200 series to be available today from Shuttle with pricing starting at $599.

From the Euro release:
'MA RRP: 948 Euros [=$1233usd] net;
'BA RRP: 743 Euros [=$966usd] net.

That's a serious difference from "starting at $599", leaving me to expect there are some pricy-but-desirable (or -necessary?) options. 'Probably out of my $$ league!

Yea, if your prices are correct, that's too expensive for what it is. Another nice looking unit from shuttle, though. The I/O panel looks clean, but it's too limited, and HTPC remotes should always be backlit.

Keep in mind though - the Euro versions are not launching with the same tuner hardware as the US versions. The US version will be cheaper


GMA 950 = No HDCP

Hmm, what's the purpose of this MCE?

No HDCP means no HD-DVD/Bluray.
