Nintendo DS game helps choose the make up right for you
Sega and Shiseido a major Japanese cosmetics company have
teamed up to develop Nintendo DS software designed to help women (and men?)
choose the right make up tailored to their own unique characteristics. The
software is named the Shiseido
Beauty Solution
Center: Project Beauty.
For obvious reasons this is one of the first times a
Japanese cosmetics company has delved in to the world video games and the goal
is to leverage Shiseido’s vast cosmetics know how to develop make up jobs that
fit each individual user. Naturally the cosmetics products recommended by the
software are Shiseido goods.
Part of the process involves using the “DS Scan” a Nintendo
DS hardware peripheral that takes a scan of the users face. This is the same
hardware peripheral that came with Otona no Kao Training the face training
software released last year. There are two versions of the game one with the
“DS Scan” at 6,090 Yen and one without at 5,040 Yen. The game is scheduled to be released on
November 27th 2008.
I think this is another example of software targeting non
gamers in a way that is being done only on the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo
Wii. By targeting the much larger general non-gamer market I believe Nintendo hardware
will continue to out sell their competitors for the foreseeable future.
