COO Dave Wikersham replaces CEO Bill Watkins as company president of Seagate
There
has been a changing of the guard at Seagate as the company has appointed COO Dave Wickersham to the
position of President, replacing Seagate CEO Bill Watkins who
previously held the position. Watkins will continue to maintain the role of CEO
for the time being.
Watkins
hailed Wickersham’s success with Seagate over the years saying “"Dave is
an extremely talented executive who has played a critical leadership role in
Seagate's strong performance," Watkins said. "Under Dave's
leadership, our global operations have functioned at the highest levels this
industry has ever seen and have helped establish Seagate as an elite technology
company at the heart of the on-demand world”
Wickersham
is a 28 year veteran of the storage and systems industries and joined Seagate
in 1998 as the head of the company’s worldwide materials organization. Prior to
his work at Seagate Wickersham held management roles within IBM, Exabyte and
Maxtor.
Seagate recently acquired Maxtor in a $1.9B USD deal.
