Samsung SPH-P9200  (Source: Samsung)
Samsung SPH-P9200 details surface boasting great connectivity options

Information on Samsung’s latest Ultra Mobile PC is surfacing today: the SPH-P9200. This device uses a folding keyboard that gives the device what appears to be a nearly full-size QWERTY keyboard.

Specifications for the SPH-P9200 reported by SlashGear show that it will feature a VIA C7-M processor, 512MB of RAM and a 30GB hard drive. The operating system is Windows XP Home, the standard battery is a 20Whr battery good for up to 2.5 hours of runtime and the extended battery will provide up to 5 hours of work time. A 1.3-megapixel camera is built-in as well.

Perhaps the best feature of the device is the multiple connectivity options that include WiFi, WiBro and HSDPA. Samsung also included a SIM card slot, a 15-pin accessory port assumed by SlashGear to be for accessories like headsets or dongles and a port replicator.

The screen is a 5-inch 800x480 display that reportedly can do higher resolutions via interpolation. Samsung includes MyPen software and an optical joystick with mouse buttons is included.

Samsung has declined to comment on pricing or availability.

The Samsung user’s manual for the SPH-P9200 can be seen on the Samsung website (PDF). Power users may be more inclined to use a UMPC with more performance, which in this case could be systems like the ASUS Eee PC that is now shipping.

Looks like a PDA with an attached keyboard to me.
The final retail price and future testing will determine if this could be a worthy contender to the fujitsu lifedrive which is going to launch in not so long.

I've got a Nokia 770, and I think I'll keep it for a while longer. Not that it's anywhere near the class of the Samsung UMPC in this article. Had thought I'd pick up the Asus 3E device whenever it comes out, but they keep rolling back the hardware specs, and increasing the price from what I've read. So it might be even longer before I blow any more cash on a UMPC type device.

The keyboard should have been sliding out from below.

ie. First pull the left side and bring it to a level (up) and then pull the right and bring it to the same level, so that it looks seamlessly connected.

I am guessing that you didn't open the PDF that was linked to the story. If you had, you'd realize that your comment doesn't take into account that it can be folded into what looks like a potentially potent portable gaming device with controls that remind me of a Game Boy. This thing looks pretty awesome to me. If it's under $600 I'll pick one up.

Right guess!!
I'll open the PDF right away.

Can anyone read Korean?

This looks really awesome, but it's got to cost a lot based on what's packed in there. It looks like it's kind of thick, but it's probably worth it with all the input options it has.

Any Korean Dailytech readers out there that can scan that manual for any extra details?

The fact that they withheld the price means $800-1000. These UMPC makers still don't get it. They keep looking for the next printing press for big dollars. Far too often this formula is a path to nowhere.

I was interested in the Asus Eee, but despite the pre-orders, it's still vaporware.

Almost there

Take out useless crap like the camera, and expand that screen to about 8 inches, and this is something I could fall in love with.

You don't see the validity of putting a webcam in it? You would prefer to add an external webcam and somehow attach it to the screen? The inclusion of a webcam is a great idea. This is the ultimate student's gadget. Add a wireless mic/headphone and I bet you could use it for VOIP too.

My only negative comment is that they're going with Via.
