Looks a lot like an iPhone 3G

That phone looks really close to an iphone 3g or 3gs. Not impressed with the specs either. I wonder what the price difference is in a HSPA+ 14mbps chip and a HSPA+ 21Mbps chip.

Yes, it looks so much like the iPhone 3G with the rectangular home button, two capacitive buttons, homescreen widgets and the Samsung logo in front.

Must have taken them a lot of imagination to come up with that little lot.

Well, they couldn't make it in the shape of a diamond or they'd get sued by both DC and the estates of Shuster and Siegel. Can't use a star or all of the people that cut themselves on the sharp edges would sue. Can't use a circle or every sport except American football would sue. Can't use an oval made of pig skin because American football would sue. Can't use amphibious landing craft shape or BBC would sue on behalf of Fawlty Towers.

So they took the easy way and designed a rectangular phone. How lame is that...

... or a taco, as Nokia would sue them.

It's nearly identical to my Captivate, except it's dual core and has a front facing camera. I think this may be a budget device for the market with lower personal income. It would probably do nicely in the US market, though, for people who want a smart phone, but can't afford $200-300 for one. Perhaps a $50 model?

Except for the other two buttons, the Samsung logo, the fact that it has a larger screen...

Really...?

The price of the phone is so low compared to the price you pay over the life of the contract, but I guess a lot of people don't think about that.

For those that can't afford the S II for some reason.

Given the way the American market works we'll probably never see this. Or, maybe this would be the free Galaxy with contract and they'll keep a premium price tag on the S II?

Or for those who don't need nor want a gigantic screen.
This phone would be a good option if it's planed to receive the ICS upgrade.

This is 3/5ths of a Galaxy S II for poorer markets. Why are we reading this?

Because Anand/DailyTech are international web sites and not all the readers are from US?!
