Samsung has debuted a new member of the Galaxy S smartphone family today called the Galaxy S Advance. The new smartphone is apparently not destined for the U.S. at the moment, but will be rolled out in Russia next month. After the Russian launch, the smartphone will be gradually be rolled out to other parts of the world including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Latin America, and China.
“The GALAXY S Advance adds to the successful track record of the GALAXY smartphone range with a phone that combines power and style with all the versatility of Samsung’s Hub services,” said JK Shin, President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
The smartphone has a dual core 1 GHz processor inside and operates on HSPA 14.4 Mbps networks. In addition to the HSPA network connectivity, the smartphone also works on EDGE/GPRS networks. The Galaxy S Advance has a curved glass screen that measures 4 inches and uses Super AMOLED technology for high video quality and crisp visuals.

The smartphone also has a five-megapixel digital camera and uses the Android Gingerbread operating system with Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface plastered on top.
The front camera the phone is 1.3-megapixel resolution unit in the smartphone supports the playback of 720P HD video. Rounding out the features of the phone are Bluetooth, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, and the range of sensors we expect from smartphones today. The phone will come with either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory along with 768MB of RAM and a microSD card slot for expansion.
