Sources say the free mobile service will allow limited on demand playback

Spotify has been operating its subscription music service for quite some time and seen its fair share of success. Sources that claim to be familiar with pans at the company have now said that Spotify is working on an ad-supported, free music streaming service for mobile devices.

Spotify has offered its free streaming service only on computers in the past.

These sources claim that the music company has made licensing deals with three global music companies for the new service. Spotify currently has 6 million paying subscribers and 20 million active users around the world.

The sources said that the ad-supported version of the mobile service would let the users play a limited number of songs on demand.

The Spotify premium service costs $20 per month and allows unlimited on demand music playback from a catalog of 20 million tracks on multiple devices.

No, the Spotify Premium service costs $10 per month. Your source was the WSJ article and you couldn't even copy the basic facts. Way to add content, DailyTech. You would have done better to provide just a link to the original article; instead you turned a one page article into a few sentences of crap, not even correct.

Really who are your writers or should I say Copy/Paste department? Spotify is $10/month for premium and I know this because that is how much my CC statement shows they charge me a month. Holy crap DT get it together.

You guys did the same crap with your write up on the PS4 when the author (copy/paster) claimed it no longer has a power brick compared to how the PS3 did. The PS3 never had a power brick and always had an internal PSU and the Xbox 360 & One has the external PSU (Power Supply Unit).
