A virtual clone to do all the talking for you courtesy of RelevanceNow

Liesl Capper, founder of RelevanceNow, introduced new software called MyCyberTwin on Monday.  The new program allows users to create and customize virtual personalities that can chat with other people when the user is offline.

Users can choose one of five different personalities, including "warm-hearted, intellectual" to "cheeky, down to earth," and can then model that basic personality to match their own, customizing it by answering a set of psychological questions.  The user can also list frequently asked questions and answers for the program to respond.  MyCyberTwin allows users to extend their personalities online even when they are offline.

Capper stated, "It can talk to friends when you're sleeping or tell people where the party is Saturday night. Sites and bloggers will want them so that people can learn about them when they're away. And companies can learn about customers without having direct conversations."

MyCyberTwin is not the first virtual personality software, but it can take online communication to a new level by offering more open lines of communication and giving more in depth responses to personal questions.  Specific information can be registered on the website, where other could receive it depending on the questions asked.  The more information the software has about the user, the more complex the personality becomes.

MyCyberTwin is up and running and people can register at the websites homepage free of charge.  The software is compatible with MSN Messenger, Myspace, and other personal web pages and blogs.

Im actually wondering if that can be reversed.

Can customers learn about the company or products without having direct conversations. At least in my industry, most distributors, end users, and most people are just stupid!

They read the info on a website and dont get it. Download a manual on how to install something, and still dont get it. There are pictures everywhere explaining, and they still dont get it. Do they need a voice? YES! They need to be spoonfed and this would help me do that perhaps..
maybe maybe.

Perhaps

I just graduated from med school, so I'd like to think I'm at least a bit more than just stupid.

However, I sometimes play psychological games with salesman and act stupid, so when it comes time to call my number again, they'll think twice to bother with us.

Or I do the no brainer cuss them out and ask to speak to the manager.

I think these days, consumers are desperate to figure out ways to combat annoying salesman.

Why don't you just say, "Don't bother me, I know what I want." and leave it at that? No need to be a dick.

But being a dick is more fun.

Guess what. We're all stupid. It's just that some people try to combat their stupidity more than others.

Was there a point in there, or did you just want to tell us you just graduated from medical school?

1. If you're in the USA, tell phone solicitors to remove them from their list, then hang up.

2. Don't use the product specified in the article.

See if you remember this...

I remember the days of the pre-internet BBS ( a bright spot on my computer experiences ) and all the apps you could run on that. It reminds me of a virtual woman application you can run that would let you chat with the computer in a similar fashion. I think it's amazing we're coming back to that.

ON a similar note... I think one could have alot of fun with this program. Could you imagine the chat logs you'd read from "romance" chat rooms? ;)

It would be pretty disheartening to read the chat logs of your avatar, only to learn its getting more action than the real you.

Well, here's an idea for the "less scrupulous" out there. The nature of this program can be a real easy way to gather e-mail addresses and phone numbers of the unwitting (AKA most people that would post to this thing) who would initiate conversation with it. You could train this thing to "cyber" and collect e-mail address and phone numbers for future contact. Does it really matter that the future contact is from a spammer or a telemarketer. Well... I'll let you folks decide if it's a good idea or not to get on myspace, make a fake account with cute girl pictures, put one of these things up on your page, then send friend requests to every single guy interested in dating that's logging on.

A funny story about this though: My girlfriend was testing my bot out for me to see exactly how well it works. I was watching her throw in statements like "will you marry me", "I'm pregnant", and "I'm cheating on you". The bot doesn't really have any good comprehension and didn't really make alot of sense when it handed out responses. Since this is alphaware, this is to be expected. I'm sure over the course of time it will get better. What would be nice is if it remembered certain people and chose dialogs for that person based on a certain tree of things to say. Say, if your girlfriend starts talking to your bot, it knows to stray from insults and more nice things to say.

Some suggestions to the company: it could benefit from a slower time to post time. I tend to be verbose in my IMs and at the rate these posts were being made I would have to be typing something like 130 wpm. It could aslo be better with case recognition. I personally don't take the time to place caps on words when I IM. If there was some tweakable options for that, that would be good. Plus I'm sure there are other aspects of the system that more power users might be interested in.

Does it have an Eeeevil personality?

Would I have to run an IM program, use a specific website, or blog forum to use this software?

Does it interface with a web page? (checking their site now..)

This could be a useful tool for relaying product info on a website. Either on the front page, on an info page, or per product.

I wonder if it can be run on an IM program, but displayed on a website.

*curious*

Things like this, the SIMS, and Second Life remind me more and more of the futures shown in the Matrix Trilogy and William Gibson's Neuromancer Trilogy.

Scary possibilities
