Free game deadline is 10 am PST

If you are a PC or Mac gamer and have Steam installed on your machine, the community Christmas gift from Steam is still available. Steam started giving away the game “Left 4 Dead 2” at no cost on Christmas day. The game will be free to download and install until 10 am PST today.

Steam is making the full game available with no time limit to play rather. All current players of the game are being given a new achievement called Ghost of Christmas Present for helping one of the “Free Christmas” players make it though a campaign.
But keep this in mind; you can't just download the game by the deadline, you have to install it as well. According to the Stem blog, "If you don’t install, it goes back to its regular price, and you miss out! The zombie apocalypse is more fun with friends so make sure to tell all your mates to install it as well."

Personally best game Ive played in years

For years I could not stomach a first person shooter. It was always the same game different weapons, location, time period but L4D2 is just fun and challenging especially with the right team. There are situations you have to work through as a team and being rambo will most likely get you killed. There is an awesome community of downloadable maps expanding the game play and plenty of game modes to keep you satisfied. The one that takes you through the haunted house in Disney is classic, the lord of the rings map and lets build a rocket are just a few of the excellent maps. I must have a good 80-100 additional maps/campaigns installed. There are Half Life Map ports, Resident Evil ports, and Minecraft ports to the game.

For the Newb's.
Don't be one of those boneheads who runs in front of someone shooting and strafing can be your enemy when people are protecting the zombies from getting to you. Also remember to crouch if your shooting from the front so the people in back of you can see and shoot over you it also helps your accuracy. Shooting other players and ruining the game youll find yourself getting banned from other players and unable to join a lot of the action.

Its probably due to go on sale so expect it to be $4.99. I seriously hope a L4D3 is around the corner. To me this is the best game Valve has ever made. Ive played it more than probably every other FPS ive ever owned and its saved me a ton of money in buying other games.

I felt that way at first also but the second one really has grown on me that the first feels incomplete.

I never played the first and always assumed L4D2 was just L4D1 with additional levels. Then I played the first game and was blown away by how much better the second game is. It's just a lot more polished, and the level design is much better. I could see how if you played a lot of the first game you would be disappointed in the second game. I just happened to skip the first one
