Device isn't available in 16 GB SKU and there's no LTE

The Google Inc.'s (GOOG"Nexus" branded 7-inch tablet, produced by ASUSTek Computer Inc. (TPE:2357), has received a minor facelift following its hardware refresh from earlier this year.

The wraps were just pulled off a sleek, snow white variant second-gen. Nexus 7 variant, which is available exclusively in the U.S., Canada, UK, and Japan, from the Google Play Store.

The only potential downside for those who like the look of the frosty-colored budget Android tablet is that options are a bit more limited than in the "standard" black-colored model.  Notably, the lower memory SKU (16 GB; $229 USD) or carrier-specific LTE versions are not available for the white edition, which can be purchased only in the 32 GB, Wi-Fi sporting SKU.

The hardware is identical to the black second gen. model.

Google is offering a promotion to U.S. and Canadian residents for a limited time which gives them a $35 USD Play Store credit if they purchase a $35 ChromeCast streaming media USB stick along with a Nexus 7 (any color) from the Play Store.  This can be more or less looked at as a free ChromeCast stick with the purchase of the Nexus 7.  The ChromeCast stick allows you to stream video from your Windows or Mac laptop/desktop computer.

The front bezel area being black just looks wrong to me.

Meh for this price, I have no opinion either way. It's all good.

Maybe if it was white it would reflect too much light at your eyes? I dunno /shrug

I dunno... Color is just a matter of taste, but most white phones and tablets have white Bezels. It just looks funny to me, not that I care, I bought a black one day one of release and love it.

But doesnt this look cleaner?

White bezel would look better. You'd never know that your blacks on screen were not really black as well.

My white SGS2 touch keys would bleed too much light but that is certainly not an issue with the Nexus as there are none.

I thought that any mobile device with no SD slot is garbage according to you?

Please find where in the hell I said that or even implied it. You're being ridiculous.

The lack of an SD slot is a con, yes. It's not the ONLY factor a device gets judged on. Especially at this low price point, we can forgive something for not having every possible feature.

I suspect however, that you're just trolling. Yay for time wasting.
