Best Buy offers up two Windows Phone 8 pre-orders

Many are questioning Nokia's decision to make the Lumia 920 an AT&T exclusive given its dreadful position in the U.S. market, but that isn't stopping the smartphone company from going "full steam ahead" with its one-carrier strategy. WPCentral noted today that Best Buy is now taking pre-orders for the Lumia 920 at $149.99 with a new, two-year contract. Those that wish to purchase the device unsubsidized will have to fork over $599.99.

For those that need a refresher course, the Lumia 920 features a 4.5" WXGA display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 8.7MP PureView camera, 32GB of onboard storage, NFC, Qi wireless charging and Windows Phone 8.

In other pre-order news, the HTC 8X is being offered at Best Buy for $99.99 on contract and for $599.99 unsubsidized.

The HTC 8X also comes with Windows Phone 8 and packs in a 4.3" 720p display, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 16GB of onboard storage, NFC, and Beats Audio.

I actually love th design of he HTC 8X FAR more than the Nokia 920 but the 920 is the better of the 2 phones.
I know the 920 is only $50 cheaper than a 16gb iPhone5 at full price but the subsidized price also being $50 is a welcomed sight! Since most people will be buying these phones subsidized 150 vs 200 is a big difference for many. 600 vs 650 isn't a big difference for anyone buying a phone outright.

The specs alone will do the iP5 in against the Nokia not matter how you slice it!

1. Price
2. Better camera
3. Storage, 16GB vs 32GB
4. Super sensitive screen
5. Wireless charging

The style, design and quality hardware of the the L920, is going to make it difficult for people to ignore. At that price is going to fly off the shelves, with or without a contract.

Both the 920 and the 8X are good devices. Of the two I'd prefer the 920. Now if I could just get Verizon to stop being retarded and sell a nice WP8 device... they're the only ones with really solid coverage and reliability around here.

LOL since when does any potential iPhone buyer care about specs?

IMO the Lumia 920 is the best smartphone outside the Galaxy Note II (which isn't for everyone due to the size, but for me, is pretty much the perfect phone that also makes ARM tablets obsolete). The iPhone5 is the best small smartphone, i.e. for those who prioritize small size and weight but still want a good smartphone.

However, Apple's brand is still too strong. It'll also take a year before MS can leverage Win8 to get an app marketplace that rivals that of Android and iOS. Those two factors will keep the 920 from the sales it deserves.

Unfortunately, I have had several Nokias and wouldn't touch them in a fit.

Every time they have failed due to "moisture ingress". The last time Nokia said there was clear evidence of damage from multiple exposures to water over several months and refused to replace it. The only problem has been that I had only just taken possession of it days before it failed. My friends have refused to take delivery of Nokias as the boxes even showed signs of water stains in the shop.

Something is drastically wrong with Nokia's quality control. Never had a problem with an HTC phone. Perhaps Nokia should pay attention to the pathetic quality and then their market share might go up again.
