You will also be able to select your own room

Hilton is looking to bring the hotel business into modern times with smartphone-based room keys, mobile-based check-in/check-out and room selection tools.
Guests at the Hilton will be able to use their smartphones to view hotel floor plans and select their own rooms as well as check-in and check-out.
"Room selection: At 6 a.m. the day before a booked stay, Hilton HHonors members can sign into their account via their mobile device, tablet or computer to check-in and choose their preferred room through floor plan maps or lists populated from the hotel's available inventory," said Hilton.

"Photos of rooms are also available to help with their selection. Hilton's digital lobby function is updated in real-time, so guests no longer have to wait until they are physically in the hotel lobby to be assigned a room."
Smartphone-based check-ins and room selection will be available for more than 650,000 rooms across 4,000 hotels by the end of 2014. Hilton plans to start rolling out the technology during the summer and the fall.
As far as using smartphones as room keys, that tech will come later in 2015, with wider availability in 2016.

Or will they just use a single set of stock photo's for each room class so you still won't know that you got the room with the wall gouged by someone's bag, the adhesive seal around the tub pealing up, and the toilet seat with a disturbing stain on it?

10% off with sh1tstains on the bedding, 20% off if you find a dead hooker in the bathtub.

Don't forget the bed sheets that haven't been changed all week, and the water glass that was just wiped out with the dirty towel. And just ignore the other crappy stuff you might find. LOL

For sure.

If there is one thing that should never be internet enabled, it's freaking door locks!

When the banks start using internet accessible safes, I'll reconsider.
