New Nook will be released in two days

Back when Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's Nook Tablet were both being released in November 2011, the two were expected to go head-to-head in the affordable tablet market category. However, the Kindle Fire has taken this realm by storm with its $199 price tag, and now, Barnes & Noble is looking to compete with a cheaper version of its Nook.

Barnes & Noble will be releasing a Nook 8 GB Tablet this month, which is less onboard storage than the current Nook Tablet. But it compares with the Kindle Fire, and will likely have a similar price tag.

The Nook 8 GB Tablet is expected to hit stores at midnight on February 22, 2012.

The Kindle Fire was released November 14, 2011 and the Nook Tablet launched just one day later. The Kindle Fire features 8 GB of internal storage, a 7-inch display, and 1024x600 pixel resolution for $199. The Nook Tablet, on the other hand, offers a 7-inch display, 16 GB of internal storage and 1024x600 resolution for $249.

It's not comparable yet...

Unlock the bootloader and THEN I'll consider it. Not before.
And this is coming from someone who loves his Nook Color...

bluetooth not active- yet, b&n did not include the activation tag for the tablet(its a 3? digit code) so they will be working on this and turning on more touches(NT limited to 2 atm)

Who? Well, for one, I obviously do, since I posted it originally. ;)

In all seriousness, I didn't think the locked bootloader would be that much of an issue at first (when they initially started showing up), but given the issues I've had with my DroidX due to the bootloader lock, at least as far as I'm concerned, any android device that doesn't at least have a way to unlock the bootloader might as well be stillborn.
I don't have a problem with them shipping locked (for the sake of the general populace), but for goodness sake, if we know what we're doing, let us unlock the things! And if we brick our phones and on our own heads be it!

"Game reviewers fought each other to write the most glowing coverage possible for the powerhouse Sony, MS systems. Reviewers flipped coins to see who would review the Nintendo Wii. The losers got stuck with the job." -- Andy Marken
