The President will answer your questions -- or those he gets to

Alexis Ohanian of Reddit's "AMA" (ask me anything) series got its highest profile guest yet today.

The forum/reposting site has a live thread currently running where the POTUS -- President Barack Obama is answering questions.

Previously President Obama has held a Google+ "hangout" on Google Inc.'s (GOOG) growing social network.  He's also on Pintrest and Instagram, while regularly posting videos to YouTube.

No, he didn't just spend all his time campaigning. He also spent time, oh, and $Billions of taxpayer dollars, investing in alternative energy.

Lets see, he invested in Solyndra, Ener 1, Beacon Power, Abound Solar, Amonix Solar, Spectra Watt, and Eastern Energy.

How are those investments doing today? Bankrupt. Which one, you ask? All of them. All bankrupt.

Oh, and all were Obama campaign donors. Coincidence?

Solydra was canceled under Bush and revived under Obama. I don't know the facts about the other loans. But don't just point at bad behavior to justify more bad behavior. Loans to companies like this are nothing but cronyism and should be pointed out under any administration.

He can't because he's a classic narcissist.

But he hasn't ONLY campaigned. He's also played 100 full rounds of golf since he's been in office. Move over Tiger Woods!!! Your tax dollars at work.

I'm assuming you got this pissed when you found out Bush was on vacation for over 1000 days (32%) of his 8 year Presidency.

Such vitriol and denial- I'm guessing you work as an underpaid/uninformed intern for Fox news?

You assume that the people who work at Fox News actually believe the tripe they peddle. I doubt that they actually believe the stuff they say.

LOL, I guess it really irks you that so many people watch that channel and not the back stabbing our troops station, MSNBC.

I agree, but lets not exaggerate. Not "over 1000 days". Factcheck.org has it at 977 days. :-)

Both Saint Ronny Reagan and GW Bush both took more vacation days than Obama. If Reagan did it, it must be holy!

Even if you scale it just from inauguration to today, George W. Bush took more vacation days than Obama.

Do we get to count all the days Obama has spent campaigning across the country, giving campaign speeches to college students, etc. as "vacation"? We wastes an awful lot of time doing that. Although maybe it's a good thing, I suppose he can't squander any further $Trillions if he's out drinking beer and giving speeches.

actually, they did a "term to date" comparison. At this point in his 1st term Reagan had quite a bit more and Bush2 had like double what Obama has. Not that it matters. Like when he is working, he is fixing issues with the economy? LOL. Go for it bro, take the rest of the year off. Take the next 4 as well.

Uh, that's in their first terms, duh! Maybe you're too young to remember. Bush was famous for being on his Texas ranch "chopping brush" and pursuing similar intellectual pursuits.

Reagan, on the other hand, worked short days and, according to his own son, suffered from early dementia while in office. So Reagan didn't really put in a lot of work hours.

Now, you can go back to bashing Obama.

Its because they were 1000% more competent and needed less time to do the job correctly; frankly i wish Obama would stop trying to be president and go on vacation full time less damage would be done that way.

Unbelievably ignorant statements.

Like him or not, W graduated Yale (that's Yale, pal, think your SAT scores were good enough to get in?) with a HIGHER GPA than that brilliant Kerry guy. In fact, Messiah has frantically hidden his Yale transcript; wonder why...

Messiah didn't "rescue" the auto industry, he rescued the auto unions. Go look it up. And as for health care, the majority of the public STILL thinks ObamaCare is a crap act.

The man is a walking narcissistic disaster. Oh, but he IS black, which is why he got elected. Don't believe me? Ask yourself if a white guy with as feeble a record would have gotten a second glance.

Goodbye and good riddance to the man.

When your daddy's very rich and powerful, it's amazing how far that'll take you academically. Meanwhile, Obama made it to Harvard despite the economic challenges that he faced. Not only did he make it to Harvard, but he excelled at it. Reclaimer's always whining about folks not knowing the Constitution. Obama taught it at Chicago University.

Kerry was an idiot, I'll agree to that.

As to getting elected because he's black. That's got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. He got elected because he's a brilliant speaker, intelligent, and charming.

He's going to get re-elected. Mitt Romney is not a reasonable alternative.

So far, the best American president in the last 30 years is easily Bill Clinton. It's a shame he couldn't have run for a 3rd term. The US would be in great economic shape.

I liked Clinton, it's easy to identify with his womanizing ;)

That said, you can't really attribute the good economy he presided over to him, he just happened to be in office when the Internet / tech boom happened. It would have happened no matter who was there.

Obama reminds me of people I've worked with in the past.

The guy at work that walks around the office BS's all day long, produces very little, but everyone likes. Always somehow manages not to get laid off.

Obama go to work. Go fix the fiscal cliff! Can you do that????

Of course he can't fix the fiscal cliff. The Republicans are busy pushing the country off that cliff. The Executive branch can't create legislation. Blame the Congress (read Teavangelicals).

He seems be more interested with being on talk shows....spending time chatting on social networks and......

AVOID DOING HIS ACTUAL JOB AT ALL COSTS.

I'm sure He's a nice guy....but I don't care about being nice.....His job is supposed to be "Leader of the free world".

You aren't really a leader if all you do is follow and pine for the affection of others.

A real leader would have brought the two parties together.

Blame Game Obama is an easier path. He just continues to blame our current troubles on the last administration...well its been almost 4 years....time to grow up and start taking responsibility for ones own troubles.

I'd be tempted to log-in but it's not worth my time.

By woody1 on 8/30/2012 5:23:55 PM , Rating: 2
What job do you want him to do? The Teavangelicals want to make government irrelevant. In other words/Teapublicans think that the US government should do nothing and they're doing everything they can to make that happen. How can you blame Obama for things that he's not doing when that's the situation that the opposition wants and is making happen?

Just take it at it's given merit.. The prez is attempting to reconnect with the 'tech-savvy' younger generation, all a campaign ploy -- the equivalent of a candidate taking a photo op at a church or school. That said, I certainly think Obama's team has been doing a bit of a better job with the campaign appearances.

Admittedly, I voted for Obama.. lesser of two evils, honestly. I was intrigued after his 2k4 DNC keynote speech, though was a bit turned off by his quick rise. His campaign against Ryan was vicious -- divorce records should just be left secret, whether or not the guy liked to go to sex clubs with his model wife. Immediately, Obama was pretty much entirely bought out by the left-wing interests, who can be credited with his rise to power -- and the reason why he's been surrounded with such an epic failure of a cabinet, all beholden to one special interest or another.

In addition, he set his goals too high, ultimately being illegitimized by congress before he got anywhere close to getting something substantial accomplished. He made the same mistake as Clinton, spending the first half of his term trying to push social issues (health care reform, in both cases -- neither accomplishing their goals) on an uphill battle, ultimately losing their party's control of the legislature.

Since.. it's not as if Obama isn't working hard.. it's not as if he's a 'lazy black guy'.. Really, he just doesn't have any real support -- especially in the case of his own party, most of whom are entirely too afraid to align themselves with his agenda. They couldn't even pass true health care reform while in control of both the house and senate, instead pandering to CW. Snow by dropping any substantial provision to the bill in order to gain her pledge of support, only to have her vote against it anyways (without any need of her vote to begin with).

I don't have much problem with Obama... It's the rest of his party that I have a major problem with -- starting with Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Joe Biden. The prez already has to wake up at 4am just to endure 4 hours of security briefings before breakfast -- the least the democratic leadership could do is show up for work once in awhile.
