Onkyo dual-screen DX netbook  (Source: Engadget)
Dual screen netbook is sweet

The thing that bothers me most about working on a netbook when on the road is the small screen and keyboard. I can carry an external keyboard with me if I want, but taking a larger LCD with me is not plausible. Onkyo has debuted a new netbook called the DX that address the issue of not enough screen space with a slick dual screen netbook.

Each of the screens is 10.1-inches and they each have HD resolution of 1366 x 768. The two screens nest behind each other when not in use and you can use a single screen if you want. Other than the dual screens, the netbook is standard. Onkyo uses an Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU, ATI HD 3200 graphics, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and 2GB of RAM.

Storage for the machine is 320GB and it has a built-in gigabit Ethernet port. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium and Bluetooth is built-in as well. The thing I wonder about with these dual screen netbooks is what sort of battery life it will offer. The notebook is on sale on the Onkyo retail site for the equivalent of $909. That is not cheap for a netbook, but the extra screen space is great.

This isn't an netbook, its some kind of abomination. To call it a netbook is to flout every commonly held concept that goes into the definition. It's not cheap, its not small and light, and it doesn't get great battery life.

Yeah for 909 you can get a REAL notebook comp, better processor and specs a DVD drive, etc, AND have money left over for 2 or 3 small monitors or 1 HUGE monitor. I know a typical laptop backpack style carrying case can fit a 20 inch (widescreen even) LCD screen with a detachable base with no problems.

Dual screen netbook 4tl.

I have a Targus Laptop backpack purchased at Best Buy.

It fits a laptop, keyboard (barely the keyboard), a mouse, and a 20 inch widescreen monitor just fine. It makes it heavy, but it fits. The only part that has problems fitting is the keyboard.

Call bullshit all you want but it is a standard backpack designed for laptops and it fits.

When you try it yourself and fail, then you can complain until then shut up.

Let me phrase it exactly to my specs then.

It fits a 20in widescreen LCD ACER display 100% perfectly with ease of zipping without the base.

Not my fault dell isn't designed for portable. Maybe you should cry less and research more? hrmm.

Well hell, those two don't match any Apple product either.

It is about technology and anytime you mention something about that, if you don't invoke the apple versus PC fight within a certain amount of time people all over the world will die.

Back in reality it was just an excuse to whine about Apple.
If it was about PCs or microsoft the post would have been just as moronic.

Onkyo?

My last several receivers have been Onkyo, and I had no idea they made anything other than sound equipment. I have to wonder who they expect will be the market for this product?

LOL, if I had to put that in my top 5 worst creations known to man, this would be it. It's like what Leper Messiah said, it's an ABOMINATION. And for what, almost $1000? I mean, come on Onkyo! You were meant for the sound industry, not the computer industry, so i beg you: Stay where you belong for crying out loud. You make good receivers and HTIB, so don't ruin by doing this, please? - BLUEBOY
