OCZ Technology has released its new PC2-6400 Titanium memory modules. These modules are rated with ultra low memory timings—1T command rate. While the modules are rated with a 1T command rate, CAS latency remains at 4T as other performance DDR2-800 modules. The modules are also equipped with Enhanced Performance Profiles for enhanced compatibility with NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI based motherboards. Additionally the PC2-6400 Titanium memory modules feature OCZ Technology’s Xtreme Thermal Convection (XTC) heat sink to keep the modules cool.

OCZ Technology’s, VP of Technology Development, Dr. Michael Schuette claims:

For the extreme enthusiast, we specifically created the new OCZ PC2-6400 Titanium modules with built-in selectable (EPP) Enhanced Performance Profiles with reduced latencies for ultra fast memory accesses at 800 MHz data rate. Moreover, on the qualified platform and boards, the PC2-6400 Titanium modules are capable of accepting one command per clock cycle, also known as 1T Command Rate, which solves bus contention issues and increases memory performance by a substantial amount.

PC2-6400 Titanium modules will only be available in 1GB sizes, though 2x1GB kits are also available. Pricing and availability is unknown at the moment. Nevertheless, as with most high performance memory don’t expect it to be value priced.

Waste of money

Really, the performance improvements a pair of these would bring our minuscule compared to a new graphics card or processor.

These are meant for those who have enough money to buy a $1000 processor and two $600 video cards in a SLI or crossfire setup. It's memory for enthusiats!!!

And why would a real enthusiast pay that much for a miniscule improvement when you can get Buffalo "Firestix" RAM DDR2 rated at 1250MHz (PC-10,000) at stock for "only" $340? Just an observation.

do you live in japan? cuz as far as i can tell thats the only place those are available. plus those things require 2.3v and have high timings. Id rather run my ram at 1:1 ratio at 1t with lowered timings. But I guess thats one of the overclockers delemas: faster ram or lower timings? results can vary, even depending on the type of data being processed. So in the end I guess its all down to preference and individual systems.

I actually don't, but there are ways to acquire them if you really want to [outside of Japan].

And any overclocker willing to spend over $340 on 1GB of extreme speed RAM definately doesn't have a problem of 2.3v (you can get a OCZ voltage booster). Also the 1200Mhz Firestix have only CAS5 timings as opposed to the CAS6 on the 1250Mhz, so I guess that is somewhat of a compromise.

Thanks Chillin, since this is my first post in this thread let me identify myself as an employee of OCZ.

We have a complete range of parts, but this one is indeed aimed at high performance users and enthusiasts. We recieved many requests from enthusiasts not only for high speed, but a better balanced part. This part is optimized to run on nVidia's current and upcoming platforms and can deliver serious overclocks with tight timings...and at 1T.

1T performance is a really nice gain for memory enthusiasts. You said it absolutely right...there is a performance drop when you get into such high latencies, especially at 2T. You can achieve the same, and often even better performance with a lower clock and much tighter timings.

Getting sku'd up now

I have been pinged a few times regarding availability. These parts are shipping now to customers (e-tailers and distis) and should be sku’d up on their sites today and tomorrow. Thanks guys.

i really appreciate the direct feedback, im sure many others here do too. Its very encouraging to see a company, especially in the enthusiast tech industry, so accessible and interactive; it gives me confidence in the service they are likely to provide were i to become a customer. Other tech companies should proactively respond to the community like this.

If the price is acceptable this ram is going to the top of my list.

(ps, still anxiously awaiting the cryo-z!)
