New bundle will save gamers about $10

The Nintendo Wii has been the best selling of the three major game consoles pretty much since it debuted three years ago. The Wii is getting much more competition from the PS3 Slim and the Xbox 360 Elite now that the price on the two consoles has been cut to $299.

The Wii is getting its first price cut ever that is set to go into effect this weekend bringing the price of the console down to $199. Nintendo has also announced that it will be offering a new Limited Edition version of Wii Sports Resort that will feature a pair of MotionPlus accessories inside.

The current Sports Resort bundle only has a single MotionPlus accessory inside the package. The new dual accessory bundle will sell for $59.99, only $10 more than the current Sports Resort title. The MotionPlus accessory alone sells for $19.99 so the new limited edition bundle will save users about $10.

“Shoppers are looking for value as we head into the holiday season, and this Wii Sports Resort bundle is a gift that players of all ages and experience levels can enjoy,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Best of all, it instantly gets multiple members of the household engaged in playing as soon as the package is opened.”

Sports Resort is selling very well for Nintendo with 1.25 million copies sold in the U.S. alone since it launched. Nearly 2.9 million MotionPlus accessories have been sold.

I've been looking to get this game but was turned off by the fact that it only works with the motionplus extension and you'd need to spend at least $20 more to play the game with other people.

I'll be keeping an eye out for this special bundle...although $60 is a little steep for Wii Sports 2.

in sports resort you can share 1 controller for almost all the games. only a few that are directly head to head require a separate controller. still best to have 2, but still playable without spending the extra 20.

Don't forget about future games that will make use of motion plus

I still don't know why current Wii controllers don't have Wii Plus sensors integrated...

Because nintendo likes to milk people for more money under the premise of initially cheaper prices.

good idea.

i'd rather see them sell 2 extentions & the game for $50, and sell the old package for $40.

Stupid Bing Links

Can DT please kill the stupid bing links in the text of the articles? Those things are super irritating, and more often than not cause stack overflow errors on the computers at work. It's such an obnoxious means of advertising. I absolutely refuse to do anything with pop-up ads other than close them.

I try to avoid mousing over them, but scrolling up and down it can be hard to avoid. Please stop using those.

Nice spam link. It's so bad that even McAfee SiteAdvisor reports them as 'very spammy' (they received 42 spam e-mails a week after entering their e-mail).
