Ars Technica has a one-line hack on how to grab a glimpse of the new Google interface. The new interface falls somewhere between the GMail interface and the old Google search, with a strong emphasis on non-fixed width element placements. The new navigation also shows page-rank style rankings for search results among the various search portals like Froogle and Google Local. As far as we could tell, only the main Google Search results page changes after entering the hack.

Ars Technica did not provide a way to remove the interface, but if you place the following code (all one line) in your address bar and hit enter, the next visit to Google will return to the old interface:

The new interface seems much friendlier to extremely small, but non-WAP interfaces. On my Qtek 9100, with WAP disabled, the interface is actually fairly useable with the exception of the Sponsored Links. Links for Google's Sign In are not present in the version we saw, but we suspect the new nagivation column would put those features on the left hand side of the page.

Above poster, the link breaks when you post it, so anyone wanting to view that page will merely have to copy and paste the URL into their browser.

The DailyTech engine adds a space in the URLs to prevent bots, phishing, scraping etc. Just copy into your browser and remove the %20.

why not just shut off the autolink to avoid confusion?

Because the words/links get truncated if they are over X amount of characters (to prevent format problems and spaming).

Why not link to a page explaining the problem and displaying the link in a form textarea?

Section "pagerank"

Anyone else notice that the 'pagerank' style relevancy bar things next to each section on the left don't seem to be remotely accurate? I did a search for some CSS stuff & it had the news section one at almost 100%, but clicking on news gave 0 results.
