Apple
has found itself in some hot water with its latest iPhone 4
smartphone with an antenna design that looses signal strength when it
is exposed to the user's skin. Apple later offered all iPhone 4
owners a free
case to eliminate the antenna issue and started offering
refunds to those who purchased a bumper case
already.
Motorola is now taking the chance to capitalize on
the flaw in the popular device with attempts to bring unhappy iPhone
4 shoppers to their brand..
The latest
Droid X ad set to hit newspapers today shows the Droid X
smartphone with the tag line "No Jacket Required." The
tagline is alluding to the fact that the Droid X will work without a
case. The ad describes:
At
Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their
phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes
with a dual antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold
the phone any way you like to make crystal clear calls without a
bulky phone jacket. For us it’s just one of those things that
comes as a given when you’ve been making mobile phones for over 30
years.
The
Droid X is a capable smartphone by most accounts, but the antenna
issue isn’t doing much to slow the sales of the iPhone 4 with
shortages and waiting lists persisting in many areas.
