Close to half of women surveyed said that they would choose to abandon sex for two weeks rather than give up their Internet access.
Almost half of women questioned by Harris Interactive said that they would choose to abandon sex for two weeks, over sacrificing their internet access, according to a study released Monday by Intel, which delegated the survey.
The survey results, comprised of 2,119 adult respondents surveyed last month in the U.S., make up part of Intel's broader commissioned study on Americans' reliance on the internet in today's economy.
Although nearly 46 percent of women respondents showed their willingness to give up sex life over Web access, only 30 percent of men surveyed would do the same.
The age bracket ranging from 18 to 34 years old displayed even more differences between women and men. Women in this group responded 49 percent favorably to choosing internet access over sex, and 39 percent of men respondents answered similarly.
Moving up in years, 52 percent of women between the ages of 35 and 44 years old said that they would choose to sacrifice sex over a loss in Web access.
Although men's willingness to give up sex for internet drags behind women's scores, bringing in other sacrificial options, such as television, presents slightly different results. For example, According to Reuters, a survey from earlier this year conducted by Comet on Britons resulted in nearly half of men respondents choosing to forgo sex for six months if they could have a 50-inch plasma TV. Only just over a third of women would make the same choice.
In terms of a TV versus internet battle, the majority of adults would prefer a two-week loss of watching TV over a one-week loss of internet access. Nearly 40 percent of respondents said that they would not want to give up either.
