Motorola updates the release date on the "Q"

Motorola's "Q" Smartphone is nearing its launch date. The phone was announced in Q3 of 2005, but has been MIA ever since. The latest reports peg its release for April of this year for Verizon networks -- and this is without AKU2. Considering how long Motorola has been sitting on this phone, that news is slightly disturbing.

The Motorola Q is based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 platform, has a 2.4" color screen, Bluetooth, built-in 1.3 megapixel digital camera, audio (iMelody, MIDI, MP3, AAC, WAV, WMA, WAX, QCELP) and video (H.263, MPEG-4, GSM-AMR, AAC, WMV) playback and features a QWERTY keyboard with thumbwheel.

Thumbwheel?

I hope it also comes with a pen and touchscreen. I have a Samsung i700 and a Blackberry with thumb wheel (for work). The PPC Samsung i700 kicks the Blackberry's but, touch screen is much better than thumbwheel.

Nope -- Moto Q runs on WM Smartphone edition rather than Pocket PC, so no touchscreen.

Is teh suck.

It has been delayed numerous times, most recently so that Moto could include AKU2, which provides puch email, at launch.

This is running WM5 Smartphone, not WM5 PocketPC. It's really nothing more than a non-flip MPx phone with updated technology.

I'll pass and wait on the HTC Universal or (hopefully) a CDMA version of the Sharp WZero3, kthxggmotorola.
