Fennec, Mozilla's mobile browser effort, has reached Beta 1 and is looking terrific. If you have a Nokia N810, you can try the new touch screen browser -- unfortunately its still not available yet for any other platform.  (Source: Engadget)
Most customers looking to get their hands on Mobile Firefox aka "Fennec" will have to wait a little bit longer

Mobile browsers generally are lacking in features and compatibility.  Some independent browser makers like Opera seek to conquer the low end, pushing lightweight browsers like Opera Mini across more of the market while other seek to conquer the high end smartphone market.

Mozilla's new mobile effort, Fennec, falls into the latter category.  The new browser is aiming to be the most full-featured touch screen browser yet.

Fennec just hit Beta 1 and looks promising.  It features add-on support, easy address entry and bookmarking, and a high degree of compatibility.  Unfortunately, Mozilla is currently only testing Fennec on the Nokia N810 which is more of a mini computer than an everyday cell phone.

Still, Fennec Beta 1 is a sign of good things to come.  Hopefully, Mozilla will consider rolling the browser out for the T-Mobile/Google's G1 or the Blackberry Storm -- iPhone users are left out, as Apple only allows browsers that are built on Apple's Safari webkit

And hopefully the performance on the Nokia N810 will translate to these and other high-end smartphones.  With Fennec leading the way, perhaps mobile browsing can become the more fulfilling, less frustrating experience it was meant to be.

When will we have a decent Firefox Mobile browser on Windows Mobile? I mean Opera is great for now but I've been waiting almost a year now for Firefox to take on the Mobile world.

There is already an pre alpha version for the HTC touch pro, so it looks like it is definitely coming to Windows Mobile eventually (says it in their documentation too). Expect added support for Winmo and Linux(android) phones.

I'm not 100% sure if this is what you're looking for, but I found this page on how to build Fennec for Windows Mobile:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Build/Windows_Mobi...

Probably a bit more labor intensive than just downloading a CAB and installing it, but at least you'll get it! :)

Take a look here:
http://www.skyfire.com/

Not the official "Firefox for WM", but a Mozilla core in a mobile web browser.
On my Symbian it looks much more than enough. Maybe is even better in WM?

Skyfire is nothing new, not that fast either. If you need a change from opera, try netfront which is a full fledged browser, or bolt (may still be in beta) which is more like Opera mini(image based) but it is based on webkit.

I would say NetFront can't be said as a "full fledged" browser because from my experience, Opera Mini is so much better, I know because this cellphone I have, a Samsung SGH-J200 have NetFront as its built-in web browser. Opera Mini may not a full-fledged browser for mobile phones but I love it for its functionality and compatibility. Like its desktop siblings which IMO is so much better than FF3, so much more intuitive.

Wow a picture of a web video. Why not include the video? While your at it, try not hiding the link to what we are talking about in paragraphs of rehashed content and links back to old DT content.

According to this link, it also works with the Nokia N800 internet tablet.

Also, I just figured out this was release back in August of last year (almost 6 months ago). Not sure why this is just getting posted now, but I'm interested to give it a try anyway.
