The most unobtrusive Bluetooth add-on yet

Newton Peripherals, the developer of the MoGo Mouse, has revealed the MoGo Dapter. The tiny device appears to be the smallest Bluetooth adapter we’ve seen yet. Newton Peripherals' engineers designed the USB adapter to sit virtually flush with the port, without protruding as much as standard adapters. In doing so, the MoGo Dapter can be left in place semi-permanently, eliminating the current requirement of unplugging and carrying a bulkier adapter when traveling.

“The MoGo Dapter is consistent with our corporate objective of producing powerful and easy-to-use products that enable mobility on the go,” said Matthew Westover, Newton Peripherals' President and Chief Executive Officer. “Many laptop computer users refuse to use adapters of any kind, because they can catch, break off or become lost. As a result, they are not getting as much as they can from their mobile computing experience. The MoGo Dapter solves that challenge, and represents a significant step forward. We believe the ultra-low profile of the Dapter will become the standard design for adapters of all kinds.”

The market for such a device is tremendous. Figures from IMS Research and the Bluetooth Special Interest Group indicate that there may be as many as 250 million older laptops still in daily use worldwide, without embedded Bluetooth support. The MoGo Dapter now enables owners of those laptops to use Bluetooth-enabled devices. More importantly, the MoGo Dapter essentially becomes an integrated part of the laptop, giving users one fewer device to misplace or lose.

The MoGo Dapter will be available in the second quarter of this year from at an MSRP of $49.99.

FANTASTIC Product

This is just a great product. My tablet did not come with Bluetooth, and I really would like it for using the wireless modem on my cell... wirelessly. I will definitely be buying one of these adapters.

The $49.99 is expensive? I did not really think it was... but maybe that is just me?

Compared to what? A $15 junk model? I wouldn't consider any adapters similar to this below $30 because they all look low quality (no personal experience with Bluetooth itself, just tech items in general, you usually get what you pay for.) Most decent models are $30-50, but aren't this tiny with almost no profile. I think this does look great for what it does in such a small package.

You can get decent Bluetooth 2.0 USB adapters for around half the price, but this is a semi-revolutionary product, which is I think is worth the premium on it. The other products normally measure around 3-4 times as long.

WOW

Wow, that's one hell of a sleek piece of electronics.

This will surely be considered as a permanent add on to a laptop.

But most laptops have 2 USB ports very near each other. Looking at the picture, it may prevent devices in an adjacent port from being attached..

Most USB devices are wider than the USB slot, and this one doesn't seem to be wider than, say, a USB disk. So I don't think this'd be a problem.

Bluetooth 2.0?

That is one beautiful device.... great job to the designers.

If these pass my departments testing, we'll definetly be getting these for our laptops that diddn't get bluetooth onboard to start with.

Nice....

AMAZING!

That "photo" looks like some nice rendering work, any idea if there are real working models in the wild yet?

2.0?

Not bad, as long as it supports Bluetooth 2.0
I paid $35 for my Jabra adapter that's about 5 times the size of that.
