Micron means business, and they took
Rambus to task yesterday by filing a suit against it. In an effort to
protect its patents and its share of the $30 billion memory chip
market, Rambus has been on a lawsuit spree for the past few years
hitting all of the major chipmakers. Micron contends that Rambus has
been shady
in their presentation of facts to the courts:
The lawsuit charges Rambus, whose
shares dropped more than 4 percent, with violating federal
racketeering laws and accuses the company of destroying evidence,
false testimony and other improper activities designed to mislead
courts.
Rambus has been
asking for as much as 3% royalties on infringing products as well as
triple damages for what it sees as a deliberate violation of its
computer/graphics memory patents.
