For months, or even longer, gamers have been scrutinizing
every single piece of information surrounding Metal Gear Solid 4 in hopes of
shedding some light regarding its status as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Just a
few days ago, a Konami executive even made some rather
curious comments following the PS3
price cut that would lead some to believe that MGS games would be heading
to the Xbox 360 or Wii for the sake of recovering development costs.
At the Sony E3 press conference, it was explicitly stated
that Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PlayStation 3 exclusive. There you have it, folks,
official word from Jack Tretton of SCEA that it’s a PS3-only title. And if that’s
not good enough, he was joined on-stage by Hideo Kojima, making it certain that
it’s an exclusive.
Of course, it wouldn’t surprise me to see some sort of “Substance”
follow-up to later appear on Xbox 360, which technically would be a separate
game, leaving intact the Sony exclusivity detail.
While we’ve heard the same thing from the director before,
Kojima said that this would be his last work on the Metal Gear Solid series. He
said the same thing after MGS3, but I’m thankful that he’s decided to give it
another go with the latest instalment.
If you have a PlayStation 3, check out the high-definition
