growing in popularity
, especially in Asia. One of the more popular series there is
MSI's Wind netbook
, using the ubiquitous
. Intel has been pushing Atom CPUs into affordable, iMac-like devices known as "net-tops", as opposed to desktops. These small, compact devices are perfect as a
for accessing the weather, email, and other basic web-surfing activities.
MSI combined its Wind brand name with Intel's terminology to create the MSI Wind Top All-in-One Touch PC, which integrates either an Atom 230 single core or Atom 330 Dual core CPU with an 18.5 inch touchscreen. Wireless connectivity is provided by an integrated 802.11 b/g/n adapter, in case you don't have a cable run for the Gigabit ethernet port.
The screen only displays WXGA (1366 x 768), but shouldn't be too bad considering the small screen size. Integrated twin speakers, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, and an integrated microphone round out the multimedia features.
To promote its Wind Top, MSI has launched a video-making contest. Producers are challenged to create a video elaborating the benefits of MSI's net-top versus a traditional desktop. Viewers on MSI's site will vote for the top five videos.
“There is no question our Wind Top line of desktop PCs have revolutionized how we all compute in our homes,” said MSI US Vice President of Sales, Andy Tung. “Our contest is designed to discover exciting new ways the Wind Top improves our lives while having some fun!”
These are MSI's five steps to victory:
1. Brainstorm an awesome idea and make a video
2. Upload your masterpiece to Youtube.com, being sure to follow the proper video naming convention. For ex., MSI Switch to One Touch: Bobby’s Super Awesome Video
3. Submit your YouTube video to MSI
4. Spread the word and get your friends and family to vote for you on the contest site
5. Win Prizes!
The first 50 video submissions will win a MSI USB Thumb Drive, while 20 individuals that vote each week will be chosen at random to receive an MSI sportswatch. The five Grand Prize winners will each receive a MSI Wind Top All-in-One Touch PC valued at $529 USD.

The contest closes August 22, 2009.
