LG KF510 Touch Slider in Red or Black  (Source: GSMArena)
LG introduces its KF510 touch slider in Barcelona

Much of the talk in mobile phone arena centered on the massively popular Apple iPhone during the past year; however, there are other large cellular makers like Nokia, LG, Samsung and more that are vying for the cash in the wallets of shoppers.

LG unveiled the KF510 Touch slider phone in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress for the first time. The phone is very thin at only 10.9mm in thickness but it still packs in a lot of features into the svelte design.

The KF510 has a 3 megapixel camera and utilizes a touch sensitive navigational pad. The frame of the handset is made from metal rather than cheap plastic and the paint is a gradation style in either red or black.

Detailed specifications are not available at this time, but GSMArena reports that the KF510 should be available in the United States for around $330 as early as March of 2008. LG dubbed the KF510 the “Touch Lighting Phone” due to its Interactive Touch Lighting technology used on the display and navigation keypad.

LG attempted to take some of Apple’s iPhone thunder with a touch screen mobile phone called the LG Voyager exclusive to Verizon Wireless in October of 2007. LG competitor Kyocera bought Sanyo’s mobile phone operations in late January to bolster its place in the pecking order for top handset maker.

I think it looks good

That phone really does look nice, and the price is not too bad. I imagine after a 2yr contract will bring the price down about $200 so you are looking at a $150 touch phone.

I am just not a big fan of the touch phone sensation but this one might get me to test drive it. I have used a few touch phones but none seem natural while in use but perhaps this one can fill that void for me.

Are there any mentions of possible carriers for the US?

I second that. this looks liek a thinner version of the Venus, which is already available for Verizon.

Welp, that sure is a phone!

All the headset companies are throwing down the gauntlet on the iPhone with all the slides flips and keys they can, but am i the only one who still feels they are long off the mark? I mean, I dont own an iPhone, but after playing with one, i see why it has a following. But I dont see how/why this phone even has a market...

Looks like the next chocolate

Looks like its really the next version of the LG Chocolate. The 2nd version had some touch lighting and this one looks almost the same except the wheel is replaced.

What it really looks like is a slightly updated touch version of the LG Shine (KU970 or KE970), which is kicking butt and taking names in Asia. It's also been available on AT&T for a while.

If anyone follows the suspected upcoming Alltel releases, there is a "LG Touch Shine" that's supposedly going to drop sometime in the next month or so. I would not doubt if this is that phone.

Yes it does look like the LG Shine.

I concur on it being more like the Chocolate. On the Venus the bottom screen is a touch screen, not a pad.

As a user of a flip phone for many years I was very nervous about switching to a touch screen, but I really like my Venus. I like my buttons to be raised as it makes texting easier for me so that was a huge plus.

Isn't the LG Viewty closer to an iPhone killer attempt than this one or the Voyager?

I know I like that one, and if choice available, I will definitely choose the Viewty instead of the iPhone.
