Kingston HyperX catches up to OCZ FlexXLC

Kingston Technology today announced two new enthusiast HyperX memory products—KHX9200D2/XX and KHX9600D2/XX. The latest HyperX DDR2 memory modules arrive clocked at 1.15 and 1.2 GHz. As with most high-speed memory, the new Kingston modules are rated with a CAS latency of 5. Previously released Corsair DOMINATOR and OCZ Technology FlexXLC modules are rated with CAS latencies of 5 as well.

Kingston offers the KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules in individual 512MB and 1GB modules. Dual-channel users can purchase 1GB and 2GB kits with matched pairs. All Kingston HyperX KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules have been tested by ASUS for compatibility with ATI, NVIDIA and Intel chipsets. Raymond Chen, Vice President of Marketing for ASUS claimed “it is clear that these modules, paired with high performance ASUS motherboards, bring the ultimate in high frequency gaming memory to PC enthusiasts.”

Kingston HyperX KHX9200 and KHX9600 modules are available immediately. Pricing starts at $137 for a single 512MB KHX9200 module and tops out at $525 for a 2GB KHX9600 kit.

Well 540FSB is now possible, so 1100mhz RAM could be fully utilized with a 1:1 ratio. But there's always memory dividers anyway... net result still yields a performance increase when using higher frequency RAM.

these Kingston HyperX parts are at 1.2Ghz. OCZ is only at 1150Mhz. Looks like Kingston is testing at 1.2Giga too.
That sounds like Kingston passed OCZ and everyone else. Way to go!

In my opinion OCZ is the father of all manufactures comes to enthusiastist products. They got C4 memory at 1120 MHz. I think that soon after this anouncment we will here more from OCZ.

Lol make that corsair. I was checking out if any of the other companys had C4 as such high freq. And by mistake tiped OZC instead of Corsair.

well if rd600 ever shows up then you will have independent memory and fsb so you could run these even with stock fsb (I think this is also the case with 680i).

RD600 will work, but I think 680i will only support DDR2-1200 using memory dividers (not that that sucks).

Considering the price, I'd like to see a comparison of 4GB of ddr2-800 vs. 2GB of ddr2-1200 in various apps.

From what I've seen, 4GB kits are nearly nonexistend so where have you found them, especially at DDR2-800?

I've seen recently comparison of Vista operating with varius multi tasking scenarios. The difference between 2 GB and 4 Gbs is almost nonexistend. I see no point in going 4 GBs now... However you can buy 4 GB kits at 667 MHz (Kingston).

Actually, I was thinking of two 2gb kits (more vs. faster), but it sounds like the consensus is to get enough ram (2gb), and then the faster the better. It looks like I'm going to pay the price for forgeting about memory dividers in my original post.

4 GB of MEM useless

My IT Pro tells me that your computer, no matter how high end the components, cannot fully utilize 4 GB of memory unless you are running 64-bit.

So I'm sticking with 3GB.
