Huawei claims that the new Huawei Mate 10 features a chip that will be faster than Apple’s A11.

This past weekend at an event in Munich, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group (CBG), announced that the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be launched on October 16th. The most notable part of the announcement was the fact that these smartphones will feature both the Kirin 970 SoC and a new minimal-bezel display.


 
Richard Yu had this to say at IFA, “Compared with Samsung and Apple, we have advantages…, Users are in for much faster (feature) performance, longer battery life, and more compact design.”
 
The company further claims that the new chip will preserve battery life on phones by as much as 50% . The Kirin 970 is Huawei’s first Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for smartphones.
 


According to Reuters, Kirin 970 will integrate various components including classic computing, graphics, image and digital signal processing power.
The chip also comes with built-in AI features that can enable real-time language translation, voice commands, and offer augmented reality features.
