Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has reveled that it will launch a new smartphone called ‘epic’ at CES 2017 on January 3 at Las Vegas.

The details are not confirmed yet, but Phone Arena claims that the smartphone will feature a dual camera setup like one on the Honor 8.  In the past Honor has had some major launches, including the Honor 6X and Honor Magic, which was launched in China. 


This device comes in a metal frame with curved edges and double 3D glass at the front and back tapering edges. According to Honor, the smartphone can be charged 70% in 20 minutes and 40% with in 10 minutes.

Honor Magic display 5.09 inch QHD AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 577ppi. Under the hood runs the Kirin 950 octa-core SoC at 2.3GHz along with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB on board storage. As far as camera, comes with 12mpexel dual rear and with 2.2/f Up front, is 8mpixel front facing camera powered with 2,900mAh battery, including Wi-Fi 802,11ac Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options. This smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.


The specifications for the phone were not mentioned, but the images posted at least confirms that there is already a dual rear camera like smartphone in the Honor series 8. Also, according to Honor confirmation, it will be rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for Honor, so we could expect the Honor ‘epic’ to come with the same OS version as well. Several media outlets reported that the Honor 8 smartphone will get Android 7.0 Nougat as part of EMUI 5.0.  The OS update will be hitting the smartphones in February 2017.  



Honor Magic was released into Chinese market at the end of 2016. At this time, we only know of a new device and will be available in the North America market at CES 2017 on the market in US first, we will know more at CES.    Just in a few days more information will be available to the consumer.
