A version of the classic video game "Snake" is offered up on the video uploading site.

In May, to help celebrate Pac Man's 30th anniversary, Google served up a playable "Google Doodle" version of the game on the company's homepage.

Now if you're watching a YouTube video and you're bored with the action, you can add a little action of your own. The internet giant has hidden an "Easter Egg" of the classic video game "Snake" that users can play while watching videos on YouTube, according to Kotaku.

To access the game, users would hold down the up arrow key for about a second and then press down the left arrow key at the same time.

This action needs to be performed while a video is fully loaded and paused.  Once the game begins, players must quickly maneuver the snake around the video.  If the head or tail of the snake crashes into the "wall" of the video, players will have to start the game all over again.

No one is quite sure how long the game has been available, but it only works on the new YouTube player.  The game is not in embedded videos on other sites -- it only appears on the YouTube site itself.

The classic may be a part of the Google Chrome Fastball collection, put together to promote Adobe Flash and the Chrome Web browser, which is said to be one of the fastest browsers available.

The popularity of online gaming is quickly on the rise; nearly half of PC game purchases in 2009 were online downloads, according to a newly published study by market researchers at the NPD Group.

It's news to me. And even if it wasn't i just wouldn't have clicked on the link.

Can i just say this is a horribly written paragraph. Confused the heck out of me. Press down....the up arrow key. How about "Press and hold the up and down arrow keys for about a second"?

He is talking about how the article says press "Down" on the "Up" key. The way down and up are written in the statement makes it a little confusing. Besides its a keyboard, what other direction would you press the button?

Raise the window up?

Then?

At the same time as what? It can't be the same time as the Up key because it comes after an "and then"...so then what do I also press down?

No, you just need to hold left arrow key. The up key is unnecessary. Kotaku posted an update on this

The paused video part is also unnecessary.

Do not try and play this on a video with a white background, I could barely see the snake and the blinking dots were almost invisible.

If you are "bored with the action", just go to another channel.......
