Bungie's highly anticipated Halo 3 has gone gold. The follow-up to the hugely successful Halo
and Halo 2 titles for the original Xbox console will be in the hands of eager
fans on September
25.
Like an actor thanking everyone under the sun for an Oscar
win, Bungie's lukems thanked those who helped to make Halo 3 possible. "We have to say
thanks to everyone at Microsoft who helped us make it the best game we ever
made," said lukems. "We have to say thanks to our tireless team of
artists, designers, engineers, musicians, technicians, writers, directors,
producers, thinkers, administrators, ninjas, specialists, gorillas, webmasters
and pimps."
"And of course, we wouldn't be here today without the
tireless devotion of our fan community - we thank you all as well for
supporting Bungie Studios in our never ending quest for World Domination and we
look forward to sharing another billion+ hours together on Xbox Live when Halo 3 lands in just a few short weeks," lukems continued.
Gamers will now have to prepare for the onslaught of Halo 3 coverage. Pre-orders for Halo 3 have already topped the one million
mark and Microsoft declared it the "fastest selling pre-ordered video
game in history."
Microsoft is milking the Halo
3 franchise to the max with the black
Halo 3 Zune and the Halo 3 Military Edition Zune for U.S. servicemen. This in
addition to the $399
Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition
Console complete with "authentic Spartan green-and-gold finish"
and Halo 3-themed Xbox 360 controllers and
headsets.
Halo 3 will be available
in three versions when it is released next month: Standard Edition ($59.99),
Limited Edition ($69.99) and Legendary Edition ($129.99). The Standard Edition
will feature just the game while stepping up the Limited Edition for $10 more
will get you a metal collector's case with a bonus disc and art book. The
Legendary Edition trumps all with a Spartan Helmet, two bonus discs and
storyboard art.
