Check Point Software Technologies LTD, a security firm established in 1993, warns that your new smart vacuum cleaner may be used by hackers to gain information about you.

According to waning from Check Point, there is a security flaw in the LG Hom-Bot robot that allows hackers to take control of the device and use the built-in camera to spy on you in your home or office. What is even more profound is that the SmartThinQ app used with the LG Hom-Bot can also be used by hackers to gain access to all the connected devices in your home which may be refrigerators, microwaves, door locks, and possibly home security systems.

Fortunately, Check Point is in collaboration with LG to ferret out the security flaws in its software and immediately fix the problems.

Koonseok Lee of LG has this to say, “LG Electronics plans to continue strengthening its software security systems as well as work with cyber-security solution providers like Check Point to provide safer and more convenient appliances,”.
