Google now goes wherever you do

Wireless handset giant, LG Electronics, and Google announced plans today  for international cooperation to pre-install the Google service into upcoming LG phones.  The idea is to allow mobile users the option of Google services including easily managing searches, e-mail, blogs, and location searches, LG Electronics stated.

“Building on our efforts to set new standards for wireless handsets, we are excited to partner with Google to offer extra value to consumers with enhanced mobile Internet experiences,” said Mr. Paul Bae, Vice President of the Product Planning Team at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “LG’s mobile devices, combined with Google, will provide consumers with easy access to their favorite Internet services even without a PC and make it easy for them to stay connected while in motion.”

A select group of LG devices are expected for release internationally for Europe, North America, and Asia in the second quarter of 2007.  Some features included in the new collaboration are Google Maps, Gmail, and Blogger Mobile.

This new partnership is only the beginning to the two companies' move towards a future of digitizing homes.  LG and Google are planning on releasing at least ten new phones in 2007 and continuing the development over the next few years.

Now if only providers would stop charging out the ass for data plans... I would love to use features like this if it wouldn't double my cell phone bill.

Exactly. Does it really cost them anywhere close to what they charge us for data xfer?

No... but honestly, the fact that you sign up for it indicates that price isn't really a consern. If you can afford the $80 premium pricing for a motorola Q or whatever... you can afford the $50/mo data plan. Or at least enough people can that they make out better refusing your money and taking theirs than lowering the price.

Market segmentation... a wonderful thing! (TM)

There is one reasonable solution if you can get it in your area--Sprint unlimited data is only $15/month.

Could this collaboration be what people have called the gPhone?
