The Android smartphone market has been advancing at a rapid pace. Just a few months ago, everyone was championing the Motorola Droid as the best Android phone on the market. That status was quickly stripped away when Google launched the Nexus One on T-Mobile's network.

Since that time, we've seen the launch of the even better Droid Incredible on Verizon's network and the monster Android-powered HTC EVO 4G WiMAX smartphone is still a few months away.

Since the Android landscape is changing so quickly, Google is adjusting its strategy a bit when it comes to the Nexus One. When the phone was originally announced in early January, the company said that it would also make the phone available for Verizon customers this spring. Now, the company is pushing customers towards the Droid Incredible instead according to Gizmodo:

We won't be selling a Nexus One with Verizon, and this is a reflection of the amazing innovation happening across the open Android ecosystem. Verizon Wireless customers who want an Android phone with the power of the Nexus One can get the Droid Incredible by HTC.

This shouldn't come as a total surprise considering that most reviews seem to indicate that the Incredible is a superior phone with many refinements not seen in the Nexus One.
