A clip from the video  (Source: Youtube)
A "complete" list of all things caused by global warming.

A new video making the rounds on the internet aims to educate viewers on the media hysteria surrounding global warming. Nothing more than a collation of various news clips accompanied by a peppy sound track, it lists some of the many events which have been attributed to climate change: everything from cannibalism and kidney stones, to earthquakes and prostitute shortages in Eastern Europe.

The nine and a half-minute video, which can be seen on YouTube, is entitled "Global Warming Causes More Sex". Also blamed on global warming were events such as rises in mental illness, brain eating amoebas, decreases in racial and sexual equality, increased numbers of plane crashes, invasions of vampire moths and killer jellyfish, and the possible explosion of the planet itself. And, of course: more sex. For everything from seals to human beings.

Some claims were highly specific -- one story attributed the 1993 "Black Hawk Down" helicopter crash in Somalia to climate change. Another blamed it for the birth of a three-headed frog. Even the absence of the Loch Ness Monster was chalked up to climate change.

While the clip is light hearted, it is not a spoof -- all the claims originally appeared in media sources such as the BBC, the Times U.K, CNN, MSNBC, and others.

Many of the claims are contradictory, such as stories claiming both colder and warmer winters, ones predicting more plant growth versus ones claiming less, larger coral reefs versus smaller ones, saltier oceans versus declines in salinity, and even a pair of stories, one claiming future wines will be stronger, the other weaker-- all courtesy of man's greenhouse gas emissions. In classic Ponzi-scheme style, no matter what happens, at least half the predictions will be correct.

The video was created by Robert Wagner, a financial analyst and optometrist from Ohio. Wagner says he created the video to tell "the story the media is failing to deliver". The material is drawn from the website, "A Complete List of Things Caused by Global Warming", created by Dr. John Brignell, Emeritus Engineering Professor at the University of Southampton, U.K. According to the site's mission statement, its goal is to combat "the scares, scams, junk, panics, and flummery cooked up by the media, politicians, bureaucrats, so-called scientists and others who try to confuse you".

Wagner, who says he is entirely self-funded, plans more videos on the subject.

Which only fans global warming even more as all those idiots keep opening their mouths. Thus producing more CO2 which only causes them to talk ever more!

Only one thing can be done. End 24/7/365 news coverage.

Apparently some enjoy listening to news stations constantly rehashing stories, replaying things, and just making "news" out of anything today. I guess some don't see the idiocy of news organizations making a huge story about Paris Hilton losing her dog.

I'd rather hear about Paris's dog than another CNN special on how mankind is destroying the planet.

Sadly, I remember reading that garbage, the details are obviously foggy but I think it went something like this...

Global Warming -> Drought -> People Suffering -> Civil Unrest/War -> American Involvement -> Black Hawk Down

In what year, 2500?

'Cause this year, I actually had the heat running earlier this year here in Florida than I can ever recall. We've set daily historic lows on several days. Hurricane season isn't even over, and we've had multiple freezes, including a fairly hard one (by Florida standards) in the northern half the state? You'll think global warming is funny when you pay much more for orange juice next year if the Florida crop gets destroyed by an insane winter.

Aren't there other places you can spread your FUD?

"... and others." Aye, there's the rub.

Some of these claims actually come from the climate Denialosphere, and now the science is being blamed for them?

By mixing together stories from reputable sources about the real science with any claim from any source the video attempts to discredit all climate science through the "guilt by association" logical fallacy. It's juvenile disinformation and deserves contempt.

Those interested in reality should stick with the science

this video just sums up what ill call climate change (as opposed to warming)

many people look at me like im dirt when i tell them my stance on the climate. now... if they paid any attention at all, they'd realise that i do believe the climate is changing. its just the dilema of whats actually causing it. theres so many competing theories (some questionable because of whos preaching it) is it man made CO2 (and more importantly CH4 - methane) or is it just part of a natural cycle? being an engineer im quite skeptical of certain claims...especially when theyre backed up with seemingly random stats. i want hard numbers and hard proof.

and this video explains it clearly... there isnt any, just confusion and alot of hysteria. yes the earth has warmed and cooled over the centuries, but this is the first time its been looked at with any depth... the first time theres been any attempt at any real understanding of how our climate system works. because of that i expect that there will be people barking up the wrong tree, people somewhere in the region of it and people who are smack bang on the money, and thats whats happening. lots of info, lots of competing theories and people doing research...we're at the stage where lots of things are possible, plausible even.

only problem is.... until something drastic happens, none of it is really certain.

then theres the problem of the multi-billion dollar industry based solely on the premise that its all mans fault the climate is changing. this makes one think that perhaps numbers are skewed or that counter arguments are silenced completely in a bid to keep the money flowing and the businesses a float. when money is involved...some people will think nothing of bending the truth or even flat out telling a pack of lies if it means they can get a little richer.

for example... having to pay more for "green" products...it just makes you think, are they cashing in? or does it actually cost more to produce? are they simply exploiting the dumbasses out there that will swallow anything the mass media feeds them?

still, i am of the thought that whether climate change amounts to anything or nothing at all, we're better off playing the "better be safe than sorry card". if it is all our fault for driving cars then at least we tried to do something about it...possibly averting catastorphe.

if it all amounts to nothing then we're still better off... we'll have better products that are easier to recycle and cost less energy to produce, we'll have more economical cars, more efficient devices that cost us less to run.

i mean really its win win isnt it?

I don't care if you are thinking or not thinking, enlightened or ignorant, does anyone really care about global cooling/warming/climate change, anymore? There is so much false information, garbage, scare tactics, and probably even flat out lies that I got tired of hearing anything about the subject a long time ago. Green this green that, guess making a product green makes it sell, I don't know, I don't care to know, I don't want to see it hear it or have it jammed down my throat anymore.

O yeah, here is what I think about CO2: More CO2 = more plants, more plants = more food and cooler weather.

big whoop... not.

Wow!! Great news!

They're already losing it you idiot. As evidenced from them changing the title from global warming to "climate change". Because since its getting colder, its hard for them to keep saying global warming.

And so because some people are stupid and buy into it, and because liberal politicians are trying to cram it down our throat, we should just sit back and accept it?

As far as Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD, I wanted HD-DVD to win too. Why? Because it was by far the more open of the two formats.

And what do organic foods have to do with global warming? Environmental, global warming nutjobs want us to stop eating beef(or less at least). Last I checked cows are organic.

And we have cheaper, better products to offer. All global warming scares do is drive the price of things up. Electricity, food, manufacturing, etc.

You're one of the biggest idiots I've seen here.

Don't get me wrong, I love Star Trek, but that type of world will likely never exist. Why? Because people strive to excel. But they do it not only notoriety but the rewards. And in a socialist system, there are no rewards for hard work.

And the government can't pay for it. The government can't pay for the socialist welfare programs we have now. Medicare, Welfare and Social Security have TRILLIONS in unfunded liabilities. You think adding TRILLIONS more yet are going to fix things? Especially considering Obama will likely increase the number of Americans who don't pay taxes. There's only so many rich people to steal money from. And they'll leave long before you rob them blind.

The United States has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Socialist countries have lower standards of living than us. They're also less competitive. Why? Because of higher taxes. That's why businesses liked America. Because they could do business here and not be taxed to death. Now that that's changing businesses are leaving. So how do you think it makes us more competitive?

And there is nothing patriotic about doing well in school so you can go to college, get a good job, and then support those who coasted through school because they decided it was better to look cool than study. Stop listening to the BS Biden spews.

Well, we don't have to tax businesses more, we'll just tax the people more. A junk food tax, a porn tax, legalize drugs and tax them. We'll all be rich.

You know for a smart person, I can't believe you are letting Reader1 push your buttons like that. They are obviously being tounge and cheek about this. Even those of us on the left don't want "socialism." Not until you get to the far fringes, and then there are just as many on the far fringes of the right who are just as insane.

Not to mention your argument about taxes isn't completely correct. Countries who have both very high taxes and non-existent taxes suffer. If you don't have the money to build the road and maintain it, it's going to be hard to ship out all those products that companies are making. The goal is to find a happy medium between right and left. I was with you until you started on the political bashing. This poster is obviously just trying (and succeeding) to get a rise out of you.

The organic food section in my supermarket is one shelf. The bottom shelf. Most of the products are pretty dusty, too.

Oh and about Blu Ray, it seems to be "winning" about like Laser disc won. Its been out two years and a whole year since it beat HD-DVD and still plain ol DVD is outselling it 20 to 1.

It would have been different if HD DVD had won. Anyone who knew anything about the two wanted HD DVD to win. I bet HD DVD adoption would be much higher if Blu-ray had died a year ago. HD DVD players would be dirt cheap this Christmas, even cheaper than that Wal-Mart Blu-ray going for $129 or something. HD DVDs themselves were cheaper and DRM was much less stringent. Customers lost in every way when Blu-ray won. People were too attracted by the extra Gigabytes and the poor spelling to make informed decisions. It was the Mhz wars all over again, it never fails. Sony was too influential as a company and a studio to lose, which is very unfortunate. It still makes me sad.
