Netbooks continue to sell well despite the global economic downturn. As traditional notebook sales slip to the lowest levels in years, netbooks continue to increase in sales. The popularity of netbooks has spurred the segment to double digit growth rates.

Acer owned Gateway has announced its latest netbook computer called the LT2000. The machine is a clone of the Acer Aspire One D250 netbook. The LT2000 uses an Intel Atom N270 CPU, 10.1-inch LED backlit LCD, and has integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Measuring in at about an inch thick and 10.17-inches wide x 7.24-inches deep the LT2000 weighs 2.62 pounds. The machine has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 and runs Windows XP Home SP3. 1GB of RAM is used in the machine and the system has 160GB of storage. Graphics are via Intel GMA 950 and other features include a 3-cell battery, memory card reader, webcam, and dual stereo speakers. The machine comes in black or red colors and retails for $299.99.

Gateway claims that the 3-cell rechargeable battery is good for three hours per charge. The machine uses a multi-touch keypad, VGA out, three USB ports and more. The exact ship date of the machine is unknown at this time. Gateway introduced an AMD-powered clone to the LT2000 in June called the LT3100.
