Do you want a $400 gift card? How about a round trip to the
Los Angeles to see the 2009 L.A. Auto Show? Or how about the
chance to be one of the first in the country to test-drive the
pre-production Chevy Volt?
That's the opportunity GM is giving the public, with a new
contest. As America's highest profile upcoming electric
vehicle, the 2011 Chevy Volt, races ahead with pre-production
testing, GM is hard at work drumming up the anticipation for the
vehicle. A couple weeks ago it rolled out an exciting estimate that
the vehicle would get the equivalent to 230
mpg. While just
an estimate, the number goes to show just how revolutionary the
vehicle is, being able to exploit cheap power sources like clean
nuclear saving both money and pollution.
Now GM is offering Volt fans something even more exciting -- a
contest to name the Volt's first official paint color seen in the
pre-production model. Maria
Rohrer, director, global Volt and global marketing operations at
Chevrolet describes, "We want to invite consumers into the
development process of the Chevy Volt and give people an opportunity
to be part of our program. We’re looking for a color name
that captures the innovation and spirit of the Volt."
To submit your entry you can go
here. The contest runs through November 4 at 8:00 a.m. and
is open to all legal residents of the United States and District of
Columbia 18 and older with a valid drivers license. You can

Three finalists will be announced in late November and they will
win airfare to Los Angeles, two nights standard hotel accommodations,
a $400 gift card and admission to the L.A.
Auto Show on December 2, 2009. And to top it off, the final
winner, announced December 1, will get to be among the first members
of the public to test drive the 2011 Chevy Volt pre-production model.
GM says that they're looking for "originality, creativity,
and the ability to capture the innovation and spirit of the Volt"
when choosing the finalists. The overall winner will be chosen
by the public. GM will present the three finalists to the
public and pick a winner via a public vote. You can vote on the
finalists from November 16 and concluding at 8:00 a.m. ET on December
1 at the same site as the contest entry.
