Write on the internet for fun and profit

FiringSquad has an interesting contest running right now: write an article for them and you can win an Intel processor, cash and potentially a writing contract. Think of it sort of as American Idol but for gaming reviews and news.

There are a few entries on PC cooling, a few game reviews and the occasional odd rants. There's a lot of content outside the scope of traditional gaming reviews right now, so if you have a few minutes (and the stomach) to read through a few of them, it might be an entertaining opportunity.

I entered a small editorial for FiringSquad, though any winnings will go to a charity of Dan Turner's choice.  You can view my entry on The Rise and Fall of the Final Fantasy Fanboy on FiringSquad's Matrix, or you can view all of the entries from the Matrix homepage.

Final Fantasy addict?

Final Fantasy really was like a drug for you back then it seems. Did it bother your parents that you spent so much time on a NES?

While I've played FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII(never finished this one, found it to be quite dull in the end) and FFX, I've to admit I've never been a big Final Fantasy fan. Maybe it have to do with the fact that my first gaming machine was a Commodor 64K and not a Nintendo. Since then I've always been more a computer gaming fan than anything.

LOL, yeah it was definitely my poison for a while. I'm sure my parents we're happy with how much NES/SNES I played, but usually they would at least be in the room or nearby so it wasn't like I was just glued to the machine.

I remember wasting a lot of time looking for super rare items in FFII. I also did everything possible in FFVII, getting everyone in shape to take on Emerald, Ruby, and the others took a very long time indeed.

I never got involved anything past VII except for FF Tactics which is best FF in my opinion.

Revisiting FF Tactics is something that I took up a couple years ago. The plot is fairly intriguing, nowdays anyway, but if you were expecting FFIV or FFVI, you would be disspointed.
