The Linksys WRT54G only requires a small firmware upgrade to join FON
The FON Wi-Fi service now has backing from Google and Skype

FON Technology wants to build a global Wi-Fi community that allows members to share Wi-Fi hotspots -- the company is one step closer because it is now shipping "FON Ready Routers," which have been configured with the FON software.  For users not interested in purchasing a new router, a simple firmware download will make the router FON compatible.

If you haven't heard much about FON, or want to read a bit more about the service, DailyTech published a brief description of the service that you can view by clicking here.

How many of the typical ISP's are still outlawing connection sharing? I think they need to get ISP's on board with this before it is useful to people like me.
