The U.S. Navy Special Forces will have a new high speed experimental craft with a very small wake

Thirteen months ago, M Ship Company was commissioned by the Office of Force Transformation to produce a U.S. Navy Special Forces sea craft capable of high speeds with a low footprint.  The boat contains no rivets or screws, and is constructed from a composite hull 80 feet in length.

The "M" shaped hull design came about as a need to reduce wave damage in seafaring cities such as a Venice.  By shaping the hull into three or five distinct hulls joined by smooth curvatures, M Ship engineers discovered that prototype "M" hulls were extremely stable in rough water.  Mini vortexes are created in between each of the hulls, suspending the ship above a free flowing stream of water with a very small wake. Fewer surface waves attracted the attention of the US Navy, who immediately put M Ship Co. to work on a working prototype.

The M80 Stiletto is part of the US Navy's plan to bring more special forces under the fold, dubbed Wolf PAC.  M Ship Co. has several more designs in store for the US Navy, and the M80 platform is one design of many more to come.

You can read more about M Ship Co. and the M80 Stiletto here.

Top speed 50 knots = 57.5 mph.

Not sure whether your reply was meant to convey it or not, but 50 knots is extremely, extremely fast for a functional (read: not for short races) boat.

Given that the worlds fastest (read: Dual Dodge Viper V-10 engines) boats only reach ~80mph, that's damned impressive for a low-wake boat.

Arneson Jet boats hit 200 MPH and Mr. Arneson says they can go faster if he can find a capain with enough guts to take it to the limit.

Those are meant for smooth water lakes and such. The OP is talking about 50MPH in the *ocean*

Why do I get the feeling that I'd like to see this modeled in Battlefield 2?

from looking at the pics..this thing wasnt meant to come ashore..too darn big..plus the pic showing the back of it shows you they will still be using those little rubber boats to get to/from shore...

looks like this will get them into a landing zone area fast though and maybe undetected with its "stealthy" design

i'd like to see the sonar/radar systems you know it has to have...

Only in every single way. Do you have eyeballs?? Spread your Chinese propaganda elsewhere. Unfortunately, the Chinese military is still behind the times since they have to steal or copy all their technology, the way they learned from the Soviets.
