The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion promises to be one of the most expansive and detailed single player RPG games ever created - Courtesy Bethesda
The game will be launched in North America and Europe first

2K Games sends word that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has gone gold and will ship on March 20, 2006.  The highly-anticipated game has been in development for the past four years, but is now ready to be released.  The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be available for PC and the Microsoft Xbox 360 game console.

"Oblivion will set the new standard for next generation gaming and change the way role-playing games are viewed forever," said Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. "We set very high goals and ensure they are reached because that is what our fans deserve and have come to expect from Bethesda Softworks. We are very proud of our team's accomplishments with respect to Oblivion."

Just as expected, the game will be single-player only and will allow gamers to play at their own pace, which many find enjoyable.  Players will wander around Cyrodiil, the capital province of Tamirel, as well as certain parts of Oblivion.  I personally lost about a month of my life when TES III came out, so hopefully the week of March 20th is a slow news week.  Preorders are available from the usual suspects

lol i think he's asking if it's a complicated rpg or can non-hardcore rpg fans just get into the controls and character development quick.
If that is the question, the elderscrolls caters to both parties and hardcore rpgers can tweak their character to their heart's delight while casual rpgers can just jump right into it and let the comp worry about the details.

lotsa folks are just buying the game for the graphics and total immersion, but Bethesda has an excellent rep w/ the previous games it created so gameplay is proly gonna kickas$ too.:)

Blah, Morrowind was nerfed to be playable by the Xbox crowd. Sadly, the Xbox version was a buggy, unpatchable disappointment.

Daggerfall was better for the most part(not counting its horrendous bugs).

Not true. The PC version of Morrowind came out a long time before the Xbox version. The Xbox version was a port of the PC version. If anything was nerfed it was the Xbox version.

I really wanted a coop mode. Sorry but even RPG can be made so muhc better if you play it woth a friend. Most RPG I get very bored clsoe tot hen and only finfish becuase I put so much time into it. Whats funny is the best RPG game I play is not even RPG. Guild war is made from the ground to be PvP. But the fact that it can be played in coop mode with friends makes the PvE section so damn fun. What funny is that I hate the PvP part.

There's a user created mod that allows co-op play on TES III via the built-in worls scripting language. The guy built the whole thing without a scrap of network code!

Thats funny, I just built my brother a very similar computer for this game:

Athlon X2 @ 2.56GHz
2GB RAM
7800GT 490/1.1

I wanted to keep it so bad, my Athlon XP/1.5G/6800GT system is showing its age but no longer upgradable.

Excellent...

Yes it should be great. I know graphics don't make the game but...They apparently toned down the graphics so they would run on current cards. They took out individual shadows for non-movable objects. Only trees, people will have the nice shadows. They should've kept it all, and given us the option. Then in the future we could've cranked up the detail even more.

Later screenshots also don't look as great as what was shown in earlier screenshots and the E3 video. Go compare them. Early screenshots had a nice lighting effect, that looked sort of dreamy. Later ones don't look like it. Maybe they just photoshopped the early ones, I don't know. It is still misleading to us gamers.

Better later then never!
