Dell just recently launched its XPS
M1710 gaming notebook which features a 17" screen, an NVIDIA
GeForce Go 7900 GS or 7900 GTX graphics chip and support for Intel's
faster Core Duo processors. Dell is going one step further with the
planned introduction of a gaming laptop with a much smaller
form-factor.
The Dell
XPS M1210, as its name implies, features a 12.1" widescreen
(1280x800) display, a Core Duo processor and your choice of an NVIDIA
GeForce Go 7300 or ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 graphics chip. Other
niceties include an integrated dual-layer DVD burner, Bluetooth 2.0,
Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless, Expresscard54 slot and an optional
integrated webcam.
Dell employees divulged the information, including pictures, on internet forums over the past weekend. Whether or not the leak was sanctioned as part of a viral campaign or just corporate insiders showing off has yet to be determined. According to Notebook Review, the
laptop is due to be released within the next few weeks.
Dell acquired Alienware earlier this year, but both companies continue to release competing products.
