Last week, Dell introduced its new XPS 13 2-in-1 flip laptop for sale in the US. Here we will compare this new laptop with ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360CA which has been in the market since the last summer.

XPS 13 2-in-1 is a convertible version of the regular XPS 13 model, while ZenBook Flip UX360 is a convertible version of its UX305. From a distance it is even difficult to tell apart these convertible laptops from their regular models. Like its regular model, XPS 13 2-in-1 has a sturdy aluminum cover and bottom. It is very thin (0.54 inches) and light (2.7 lbs) as well. Like UX305, UX360 has all-aluminum chassis, very thin (0.5 inch) and light (2.86 lbs). So, in terms of dimensions and weight UX360 and XPS 13 are very comparable.

Like XPS 13, UX360 CA has fanless design. However, it is built on Intel Core M hardware which makes it not as much powerful as XPS 13 2-in-1 is. Moreover, XPS 13 features a new Dynamic Power Mode technology which scales up the clock speed to boost the performance. Despite not having a fan both laptops do stay fairly cool. Having said that UX360 has better battery life (10 hours) than XPS 13 2-in-1 (8 hours).

Overall, in terms of hardware and performance XPS 13 is superior to UX360, but it is also pricier as well. However, if you are looking for a sleek and relatively cheaper convertible laptop that can serve your casual daily activities like browsing, music or text editing UX360 is an option to consider.
