Halo super stash helps to erase painful erasure
Halo fan gets ultimate Halo package from Bungie

Few game developers love their fans as much as Bungie does. When Xbox 360 owner and Halo fan Nathanial told the Internet community of his wiped memories, Bungie promised to do its best to make things better.

"Our team and the community as a whole is rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation. It’s been awesome to see such an outpouring of sympathy and support from our community," Bungie community director Brian Jarrard said. "We can't replace the exact item that was lost but, but we should come very close."

Bungie didn’t have to do anything, but it did simply because it cares for its community like none other. As detailed once again on Hawty McBloggy, Bungie sent a care package to Nathanial that would include nearly everything a Halo 3 fanatic could possibly want.

Gifted by Bungie were the following:

  • Legendary Edition Helmet signed by most–if not all–of the studio staff
  • Halo 3 Soundtrack (two disc) signed by Marty O’Donnel (with “DO NOT ERASE!” written under his name)
  • Bungie Jacket
  • Bungie T-Shirt
  • Halo 3 Messenger Bag
  • Two Halo 3 Limited Edition Wireless Controllers (one covenant, one human)
  • Halo 3 Faceplate and Skins for Xbox 360
  • Four McFarlane Action Figures (MC, EVA Spartan, Brute Chieftan, Jackal Sniper)
  • Halo Actionclix Preview pack (Target exclusive sticker on the front)
  • Halo Actionclix Game Pack 4
  • Halo 3 Wall Graffix
  • Halo 3: Ghosts of Onyx Novel
  • Halo Graphic Novel
  • Halo 3 Wristband
  • Halo 3 Hackeysack

While the original Xbox 360 artwork that was once on his console is gone forever (explained by a Microsoft marketing manager as a result of a “wash down process” before the consoles are returned to their owners), Nathanial likely has all the Halo swag a fan could ever wish for.

Now this is the kind of thing that wins undying loyalty from fans.

Wow, Bungie went all the way with this. I thought someone from MS would run around and collect some signatures for him as a "we're sorry" gift. This is going even further although I wonder if MS will do anything or has done anything for him.

Good show Bungie, I know that guy is really happy.

Yeah, way to go Bungie! That is good PR and good a great way to show appreciation of one of their larger fans.

I have nothing but praise for this - seeing how this was a Microsoft bungle and not a Bungie, it speaks even more words of good about them.

Has Microsoft done ANYTHING to correct this? Microsoft owns I think the Halo franchise but I don't think the dollars Bungie lost by making this donation came out of Microsofts pocket book.

All I see so far from Microsoft is empty "I'm sorry" type comments. I'd like to see them own up by supplying the guy with a Halo-edition 360 + signatures etc. They should... rather than just saying - it is part of our process and oh... Yeah, we're trying to save money so we outsourced our repairs to a facility that does not understand english. Oh yeah - we really DO care! :(

Microsoft doesn't like to admit they've made mistakes. However, I'm not sure if there's anything they can do for this kid right now, though this certainly sends a message to prevent this from happening again. The kid got a pretty good haul of stuff from Bungie and he got it signed by them. He basically got back what he lost so I think it's a done deal. I wish I got a load free stuff every time a company I was dealing with screwed up.

How hard do you think it would be for Microsoft to get the exact same signatures back on the Xbox? Come on, I am sure they have that kind of influence.

Whoever runs Bungie's PR department needs a raise. This story is going to give Bungie so much positive PR you have to wonder if they didn't dream up themselves.lol
Great job Bungie, everyone should follow their example.

The thing that gives them undying loyalty is making great games.

Dailytech could really use a "related stories" link. That way readers could easily find related articles and get more insight.

Related stories links???? Do you mean like the Related Stories links at the top of the right-hand column or do you mean like the underlined blue links in the article itself?

(Sorry for being a smart alec, but DT has already provided the links so that readers can easily find related articles to get more insight. The only way for it to be easier would be for it to pop-up automatically for you... but then, most of us hate pop-ups and for those that couldn't find the links anyway, their pop-up blocking software either in their browser or in their internet security suite would prevent them from seeing it anyway, so.........I guess you can't' please everybody all of the time!)

The related articles column was not there yesterday and this story has no links at the bottom.

I didn't remember that DT already had a "related articles" column since it wasn't visible (and I knew there were related articles).

You are right, there or no links at the bottom, but can you not see the blue underlined text (which denotes a link) in the article itself? I'll give you a hint..."wiped memories".

The only thing that is missing now is the lost art that was tattooed on his console of master chief drawn by, Rooster Teeth’s Luke McKay.

I wonder if he could get Luke to recreate that.

Rooster Teeth is the team that does Red Versus Blue.

This time he will engrave it.

Actually really good to hear that Bungie has done this. Especially considering that they didn't have to! Hats off to Nathaniel for such a fast response and resolution :).

Great to see a company that had nothing to do with his loss was able to give him back some of his memories. Microsoft take note.

Nice PR
