The new Blackberry Mercury smartphone had a QWERTY keyboard that has physical touch keys which is a classic Blackberry design.

So, although it seems that Blackberry may never fully relinquish the physical keyboard.  They have fully embraced the touchscreen. The Mercury looks like an improved Blackberry PRIV. If you remember, the PRIV had sliding design that exposed the keyboard when needed.  The Mercury features a one-piece design that keeps the trackpad as with the PRIV.

The Blackberry PRIV had a screen size of 5.43, but the new Blackberry Mercury will have a 4.2-inch touchscreen which is smaller than the previous Blackberry as well as other high-end smartphones. The phone will be encased in a smooth metallic housing that has sharp corners on the top and round corners on the bottom.

There is a space bar on the Mercury’s keyboard that has a fingerprint sensor built-in.  This finger sensor allows for locking and unlocking the device quickly and easily.

Blackberry Mercury will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and will have 3GB of RAM.  Android 7.0 Nougat will be the installed operating system. The Mercury will also come with a Blackberry’s security and productivity tools.

Blackberry CEO John Chen revealed that the Blackberry Mercury will be the last smartphone engineered and designed by Blackberry. Who knows what will be next.

The battery on this device will be a 3,200mAh battery which can be charge by a USB-C port. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack for existing headphones.
