How do you get the newegg netbook for 189? I clicked on the link and it was just a blank page (the adclick redirect wasn't working). Then I just put the referenced URL in there and it showed up for 319.

Well, it's sure Friday now, and (as of 2:08am CST) I'm still seeing it at $319.99. Anyone else?

Pretty slim pickings here anyway. You can get more savings just waiting for a regular Fry's sale. Also, a lot of the stuff on sale are the lower end items.

They had the Creative Labs GigaWorks T40 II PC speakers for sale on Monday at 12:01 AM but they were somehow instantly sold out. They came in stock a couple days later but back at full price (which is absurd for 2.0 speakers).

I have always ordered from NewEgg but I find this to be extremely shady.

I had my eye on this for a while. Even if it is a piece of junk and only lasts a short time, $49.99 + free shipping for a Blu-Ray drive is a deal. I already ordered mine because you can buy it now.

according to the reviews, you can't play blueray movies in surround sound using the software that comes with the drive. we need more info on how good this drive is and what software (VLC maybe?) will play bluerays in surround sound? also, if you can post your pc specs, that would be nice too. including OS, ram, vid card, sound card, anything else you might think is important.

It's the HDCP garbage, it's the same reason DirectTV's DVR media streaming is useless.

All of your hardware, including your monitor, have to support HDCP. Nobody seems to talk about it, and those that do tend to talk like they have to avoid anything of substance to avoid prosecution under the DMCA.

It's just more copy protection garbage that makes you replace working hardware that actually does nothing to stop copying but makes corporations money.

Usually you can switch from DVI or HDMI to VGA connectors and there are no restrictions on analog signals, but then why use a Blu-Ray disk?

By Taft12 on 11/27/2009 12:20:07 PM , Rating: 2
This is exactly why HDCP is fail for the consumer.

The product is vastly inferior to the pirated alternative. This is not how you convince customers to pay the price of admission.

By Spivonious on 11/30/2009 3:14:54 PM , Rating: 2
Why use blu-ray over VGA? Because there's no HDCP requirements and I can display content at my TV's native res of 1366x768 instead of 1280x720. The picture quality differences are not noticeable over VGA runs of <20 feet.

I've got the drive.

Any non-OEM version of blu-ray playback software enables the full 8 channel LPCM output.

The drive itself is fantastic. Very quiet and haven't had any problems reading BDs and DVDs.

eMachines 15.6" 1.6 GHz AMD Athlon 64 Laptop $198.00

My nephew has this laptop and its not powerful enough to play Flash HD content. I suppose its the processor because the graphics are Radeon Mobility X1200 which is incompatible to decode H.264 with 9.11 Drivers and Adobe Flash 10.1 Pre-release.

TL;DR - INCAPABLE OF FLASH HD PLAYBACK, VERY BAD PERFORMANCE.

Dude. It's a $200 laptop. Netbooks cost more than this.

Well I'm just saying, if you want to buy a 'good gift' this wouldn't be one. Flash video is all over the internet, social sites, video sites.

Would be a very bad gift for anyone.

Bought the Palm Pre for myself and wife. The phone is very much an iphone knock off (I mean that in a good way) and $130 for both lines with unlimited to all mobile is a really, really great deal.

Except that whole problem of being stuck on the Sprint network for two years. Faust got a better deal.

Incorrect price on the Best Buy laptop, it is $197, not $179 - the link shows the correct price though.

By FlyTexas on 11/27/2009 2:59:50 AM , Rating: 3
$200 for a 15.6" laptop with a decent hard drive, DVD burner, 2GB of RAM, and Win 7 HP...

At that price, you can actually take it places you wouldn't take a nicer laptop. Not quite a throwaway item, but close...

Wow...

Caught my attention. Though at this point the shipping estimate is a very long wait. Seems to be only valid for today 11/26.

Stupid Best Buy

I already nabbed that Best Buy PS3 Deal on Tuesday of this week :D

Someone made a mistake and put the " Now Only 299.99!" stickers on all PS3's, even the bundle deal. Just grabbed an employee and he confirmed it was actually 349.99, but since it was marked 299.99, i got it for that.

Now I don't have to wait in line tomorrow morning!
